Don’t go on weekends
Have played the curious 9 hole before. Never had to wait 10 minutes between holes. Could have played an 18. Won’t be back for some time.
Hickory at Thames
Always enjoy this course for a lazy afternoon with Hot Deals on Golfnow.
Has dropped off over the years
A bit disappointing that the city has let their golf courses get to this state.
Recently they closed River Road, arguably one of their best kept courses, and now Thames has become overrun.
The 9 holes played just shy of 3 hours, while there are plenty of Covid Measures - altered cups instead of ball caddies, an unfriendly staff member asking if you’ve been out of the country, the act of turning off all running water on the course in 33 degree heat, etc...It seems all of this was pointless as they’ve only spaced their groups by 10 minutes.
At times we had 9 people waiting to tee off at the same box.
The fairways and greens are in really rough shape, and while this is a great place to get a cheap round on the books. You’d be better served spending you $20 elsewhere
Good 9 Holer
Course is in very good condition. Greens are smooth and hold approach shots well. Without physical limitations , this one would be a pleasant walk.
Cute. Layout
Short 9 holer. Good variety in the layout. Take your full bag as you can use them all.Greens a little firm, tough to hold them from beyond 60 yards out . Lots of slope on greens and lightning fast so down hillers kill lots of par attempts.
Short but Challenging
At 2200 yards, this one offers an excellent workout if you need a conditioning round. Eight of the nine holes provide an option to use all your clubs. Greens medium sized and have lots of action in them. No water on Course at all. No sand traps. If speed of play is honest , you are finished in less than two hours easily.
Worth giving it a try.
Dear Hickory
What’s not to like.
Get to spend hours with my 16 year old great nephew on a beautiful course. Pace was a little slow but to be expected on a Saturday. I had a great afternoon.
There’s a typo
Although it says walking rate several times it also says price includes round and cart. When Asked about the cart and showed them where it says cart the club house staff were very rude and aggressive.
