Bad experience, not entirely the course's fault
Went on father's day, which is a busy day, but multiple things happened that made the experience not as enjoyable as it could have.
Firstly, pace of play was poor. There were multiple instances of the cart GPS telling us that we were behind the pace of play, which is fair enough, but we were waiting at every hole for the foursome in front of us to clear. You would think there would be marshalls on the course or something to speed things up. I think we ended up being 30-40 minutes behind pace of play, which can be quite irritating when it's mostly waiting for the group in front to clear instead of actually taking our time to play.
Secondly, and this is not so much the course's fault, but there's a general lack of etiquette on the golf course. On the first hole, I was standing in the fairway with my playing partner about 300 yards down the tee, and got hit pretty badly on the shoulder by a golf ball from the 1st tee box. After recovering from getting hit, I was rudely spoken to by the player, and was told I "Throw like a girl" because in anger, threw the ball that hit me back in their direction. I hope that man feels ashamed of himself, I know his son certainly did when he apologized to one of our playing partners 9 holes later and the halfway house.
Course wise, everything was great. Obviously it is a hard course, so the greens were fast, the rough was thick, and the fairways were in good condition. Above average amount of divots on the fairways that can be lead to tricky lies, but overall, a good experience, even with a rather large bruise on my back!
Good course, bad bunkers
I have played Angus Glen numerous times and the bunkers are always in terrible shape. Today was no different. The bunkers had grass growing in them and had not been maintained in several days. They were washed out, hard as rock and the liner was showing. Everything about this course is good except the bunkers. Please address this problem.
Service is terrible, course is nice
The course leaves nothing to complain about but the service is truly terrible. From the moment you arrive it is made clear by the staff that you are just an irritation. We all know it's impossible to find good staff these days, but this is nuts.
