Worth the $
I have to review this course. Otherwise Golfnow will inundate you with emails forever. Enough now !
The day was hot and thunderstorm was in the forecast. I think many cancelled their tee time. That is why our pace was very good. The tee blocks of all Par 3's are totally damaged in very bad condition.
Great golf course in a convenient location
Good value, interesting layout, friendly staff, convenient location.
Course is good shape considering how hot and dry it has been. Greens are great and real fast now compared to a month ago. They could use an extra beer cart employee as they do double duty, if you miss them at the watering hole they are out supporting the other golfers and it is easy to miss them for quite a few holes. Food is good and clubhouse is clean. The Marshall's are real good at ensuring the pace of play is going well.
A diamond of a course
I've written a few reviews on this course and nothing much changes. However the last round I played was slow, it wasn't the group in front of us, for sure they were held up by the group in front of them, but whether that group was held up I don't know. Still had a great time on a great track.
An Old Favorite
Parkview was one of the first courses I played upon moving to the Toronto area in the 80's, so I have a soft spot for the course.
Over the years I have played it many times, both with friends and with my son. I always play the Valley course; it is a far more interesting layout and is visually pleasing. I love the view of the 15th green from the tee blocks, framed by the train bridge. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I find it pretty (if I ever built a model train set, the layout would include the 15th hole on the Valley course).
The Valley course is not particularly long or difficult, but there are challenges posed by the hills, creeks and trees. Some of the greens are particularly challenging to hold (2, 8, 12, and 13) due to significant undulation.
But this is beside the point. As I said, I have fond memories of sunny days on this course. There have also been some not-so-sunny days, including one memorable afternoon when funnel clouds threatened to touch down!
I no longer live in the area, yet try to play the course at least once per season.
The best around
I play this course often, absolutely love it, lots of character and some very interesting holes, a real mix of challenging holes and easy holes. Course is always in great condition. Facilities are great and the breakfast is second to none, great value.
