Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
About
The Escarpment Course is one of three nine-hole courses at Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club. The course is so named for its layout, which begins at the base of the Niagara Escarpment and snakes upwards to the top of the wooded Escarpment; afterwards it goes back downhill to the clubhouse. The golf course has been built to championship standards with carefully sculpted fairways and cavernous bunkers. There are also undulating greens and water hazards coming into play throughout. The challenging round is complemented by the scenic views provided by Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club's idyllic location between the Escarpment, the Bruce Trail and the Welland Canal

Great course
Had not played the course in at least 5 years, it is better than I expected and remember.
No too bad
Needs some more traps and a bit of work on the drainage. Greens were fantastic. The staff was really friendly. I look forward to playing this course as the maintenance improves..
GOING DOWNHILL FAST
I played all 3 nines with local members here for the second time this year as a visiting Kanaff member and encounted detoriating conditions due to lack of course maintenance. Course design is great, pace, staff proshop, are all very good. However, bunkers were flooded with more clay than sand, tee markers were mostly missing (fortunately the locals knew where to play from). Crabgrass was covering most white tee boxes. Uneven lies on tee boxes as a result of uneven seeding while trying to fix the crabgrass problems. Washrooms are in need of cleaning as wet floors and so much litter!
I understand that Covid may affect staffing, but this is difficult to accept.
Really used to be a great course, but current experiences are NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED!
Disappointed Again
This course's potential to be outstanding is very good, but we were disappointed again. About 5 years ago we played this course, expecting it to be in its previously excellent form. We were very disappointed because we loved the course when is was properly taken care of. So last week, after 5 years, we thought we play it hoping it would be as good as it was long ago. Unfortunately, were were disappointed again and I will not play it any more. The greens were in poor condition and very, very slow, the first cut off the fairway was US Open-like. A few of us even lost balls in this unusual long rough. The course needs a major uplift!
What a disappointment
Here’s what it’s all about - Kaneff is trying to save money and the corners they’re cutting are showing definitely. We played this course today and finished the first nine in 3 hours. The course was severely overbooked and understaffed. We probably would have left after 4 holes but our cart ran out of power - we managed to crawl back to the clubhouse and crab a new cart and then headed back to our hole - no problem, the 15 minutes that took didn’t matter, we were still waiting for the foursome in front of us to tee off. After we got the new cart we played another 9 holes and then our second cart ran out of power as well. What a joke - but some new batteries you cheap .............
