Oakland Greens Golf and Country Club

As always, Oakland Greens was a quality golf outing. The only problem was the number of pairs that were playing, slowing down the pace of play considerably. A marshal is needed to get pairs to join up into fours in order to pick up the pace. At one point, on hole #5, there was a pair on the green, 2 different pairs on the fairway and the 3-some I was in waiting to tee off. Both pairs in front of us were hackers, often hitting a second ball when the first one wasn't very good.

Played for first time backup at first tee blocks started a little late pace of play ok waited on about one third of the holes. Greens were in good shape and for the amount of rain we received the course was not wet

Beautiful course, well maintained. Very well priced. Would recommend to friends and play again.

Great price, well kept, good pace and friendly service. We will definitely come back again.

Played this course about 3 dozen times over several years, about 20-25 years ago. Always enjoyed the layout, holes variety and quite good conditioning. This time, although cost total was very reasonable, I was greatly disappointed. Began with a key that wouldn't fit multiple carts. Went back in to pro shop. Was told that key was for a different group of carts out behind the 3 decent looking carts I tried the key with. The cart group we were sent to were all a disgrace. The one the pro shop attendant got started had the back wheels sitting down in muddy ruts. These carts were WAY past their expiry date. I would have been embarrassed to assign this cart to a golfer. Went back in to pro shop to get one of the 3 carts tried previously. Was told they had been taken in the last few minutes, but I could wait for one to come back in, which we did. Finally got to first tee. Most of the bunkers on the course had just been left to nature's recapture. None had been groomed. Just hard packed dirt. Fairways, tees, greens, and rough were all long any busy. Greens were very slow. Hard to find ball in the rough. Holes not moved often enough on greens as grass was growing over the lips of holes so hole diameter, in many cases, was quite smaller than regulation. Carts, course conditioning, pro shop reception, whole experience was a disappointment. Pro shop said this was the busiest day in 2 years. Even given that fact, the entire experience clearly indicated that the prime consideration of management/ownership was saving money, with little consideration for the paying guests' experience.

Great course to play. No issues other than our two- some waited practically on every hole. Even after we passed a threesome of looked like beginner men players the next twosome we caught up with also had a beginner lady golfer. BUT IT WAS CANADA DAY WEEKEND!!!
