About
Situated in the center of Kawarthas on the northern shore of Rice Lake, Bellmere Winds Golf Club offers scenic views of the water from every hole. This 18-hole golf course features plenty of elevation changes and a few doglegs added in for more challenges. The topography causes a few uneven lies, it also makes the golf course very difficult to walk, and there are also natural ditches around the narrow fairways that can be treacherous to any errant shots. All of the par 3s have a pond and there are strategically placed sand bunkers throughout. Bellmere Winds Golf Club is conveniently located only 25 minutes from Peterborough.

Hot Deal?
Grabbed a great deal including carts but when we got to the course they tried to charge $25 + tax. I was late and had done the booking so my playing partners did not have access the GN page. I showed the pro shop attendant and she had to call someone else. In the end, I did not pay what I was not supposed to but apparently they could not issue a refund to my partners. Apparently some sort of security clearance was needed. They told us to come back after the round and of course two of the three had left for the day. The gentleman could not get the refund to go through and at this point it went from sublime to ridiculous. We only play there once a year, so a credit would not suffice. At this point he was offering equivalent exchange for beer or chocolate bars or golf balls. One took the beer but this is not how you run a business. The PSA took the other's information and to this point I do not know if it has been resolved. it tainted an otherwise beautiful day and the value added Hot Deal left a sour taste in our mouths. Bellmere needs to either hire people who know what they are doing, train them and provide the tools or empower and trust Pro Shop to do the right thing. BTW Muddy's BBQ was great as usual.
Bellemere Winds
First time playing. Very good course. Tough greens and pin placements.
Challenging course
Bellemere is packed with awesome scenery and a variety of unique and make you play shot making holes
Getting Busy
The course is very nice and challenging. It is also very popular and without marshals to mive slower players along. Still good value for the cost.
Very busy and needs a marshal
This is a challenging course and very busy. Expect a 5h round and to lose a fair number of balls. The rough is very deep. Many holes have long carries to make the fairway. On a hot busy afternoon, the foursome in front of us felt entitled to take mulligans even though they were well behind the group in front. Most of the time their mulligans were as lost as their first shots. A marshal is needed to address pace of play.
Brutally Slow
Played last Thursday in the early afternoon. The course is scenic and the greens are very good. The pace of play is beyond slow. It took over 4 hours to play 14 holes and we quit after that. There is no Marshal to push slow groups along and there was a wait on every single hole. There were 3 groups waiting to tee off when we arrived at the 10th hole. The course was definitely over booked. I would hate to see what it’s like on a weekend or in the peak summer months. I definitely won’t be back.
Gorgeous views, tough course, gorgeous fall day
We played the course on a beautiful Oct afternoon sunny and 23 degrees The course is in great shape with tough undulating greens and many great views of rice lake from high elevated tees that are fun to drive from although intimidating on a few tighter holes. Some mid length par 3s with water and bunkers were fun. A good variety of par 4s with well placed bunkers of different lengths to challenge golfers. Overall I was very impressed as I hadn't played before and am a member at a nice private course.
Overall best views in the region
Challenging greens and course but fun.
Staff very friendly.
Not to be picky but for the future if it was possible to make room for a driving range for warmup.
(I'm an erratic 8 handicap and double bogeyed a couple of holes early with wayward drives from not warming up well then straightened it out to shoot 79 with 3 birdies and a 79 right at my handicap index). My partner is a higher handicap and hits the ball farther and he started scrambly too then settled in after a few holes as well. I at first thought the practice green was a bit unusual with big hills and undulations but once we played I found it it's a good warm up for the actual greens.
Also to help themselves out giving sand/seed in the carts or boxes on the tee boxes are a cheap and helpful way to keep the tee boxes nicer with less work for groundskeeping.(I'm tall and hit down on my irons on par 3s so was looking to fix my divots but nothing was there to help.)
I would definitely return and recommend this gem of a course. Special thanks to Dan and Ranny who we were paired up with and shared some local course knowledge as there are many uphill and downhill undulating holes and greens to try and manage the course.
