Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club - Meadow Nest
About
The Meadow Nest Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Hawk Ridge Golf & Country Club. The club also offer an executive, nine-hole course. Meadow Nest is the longer and tighter of the two courses. Silver Creek meanders through 10 of the 18 holes. The golf course features rolling, bent grass fairways an abundance of water hazards throughout. The back nine is covered in mature trees and numerous bunkers, making accuracy a priority in scoring well. Two notable holes on the course are the 10th and 12th, which share a unique double green. The golf course is challenging, but four tee decks allow golfers to adjust the game to their abilities.

Well maintained course
This was the first time we played this course. They were working on the tee boxes and we had to leave our cart and walk the 13th & 14th hole with pull carts. This was just a mild inconvenience. The rest of the course was very well maintained and had forgiveness on most holes.
Meadow has some Bite
Cloudy with light rain throughout round but was not a problem for us. Conditions and staff were great as usual. Appreciated the "Hot Deal" from Golf Now. Always be sensitive to the fescue areas along the fairways as they swallow balls sometimes forever. Playing the appropriate tee blocks for your skills will make the game more enjoyable. Don't try to cut corners too often to score well.
Great Value - Great Shape!
I can not express how great of shape the Meadow Nest is in. The greens are terrific - no damage from the winter. Pace of play was perfect - 5 new tee decks constructed last season to facilitate better pace of play. I, unlike the previous 2 posters, encountered wonderful staff and the Starter was very helpful and delivered a great introduction to the course and rules. The Pro Shop advised me that Hawk Ridge will soon feature discounted tee times on Golf Now so stay tuned. The lunch feature was delicious also - Prime Rib, Crispy Onion Poutine.
Good Course, some staff a little cold, while others great!
I enjoy the lay-out and condition of this course and have played it a few times. Most of the staff are very nice, but some are not golfers and are cold and dismissive. They do have some odd rules like not allowing play until 9am until late in May, and (as one previous poster stated) they kick you off the course long before dusk so that they can go home! Also, you cannot use the men's locker room to change your clothes (neither can the members I'm told!) I have never heard of that before until here!
Overall, I'd recommend to play the course, but not too early or too late in the day! I may even join this club.
Pick up your ball; We want to go home!
(Sept 21, 2013) The course itself is nice, well kept with a nice club house. But...
The club house staff were more concerned about how their customers were inconveniencing them (a conversation going on while I was checking in!) and were, at best simply business-like in their interaction (dismissive is a great word!)
We were walking 18, and had a later tee time. Sunset is about 7:30 at this time of year. We were on the 17th green, at 6:30pm, when a staff member (middle aged woman) drove up an declared "last hole boys." We were unclear what this meant but assumed, "Yep, one more to go." Not the case. After teeing off on 18, she drove up again and declared, "I told you to pick up your balls and head back to the club house. We want to go home." When I challenged her on this, in that I had never been asked to leave a golf course on such a premise, she simply declared, "You must not be a golfer." She actually became angry that I was not willing to comply with "her instruction" as if I was a little boy, needing to be told when to go home. Can you imagine... you have to walk the 18th hole to get back to the club house, yet being told you cannot play it.
Again, the course is nice, and is well kept. Perhaps overpriced by about $15-$20 as a 2-some. The staff is self involved; no true sense of customer service. I was investigating perhaps becoming a member, as I recently moved to the area, and it is close for me. I will be staying with my current golf course which is 15 minutes further away. They treat people well.
I will never set foot in the place again.
Tough course with very long holes.
Presented lots of tough shots. Not only was it long but the back nine had some very narrow fairways with lots of trouble around the greens. The two times I played it, it kicked my butt. However, I do look forward to taking it on again.
Best course in the area for value
This course is great for the money. Meadow Nest is unique with long and wider holes on front 9 and shorter but tighter holes on the back. Timber Ridge is good too.
Enjoyable course to play
Course was in very good condition. Good test for the average golfer.
