Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club - Hawk's Island
About
Hawk Ridge Golf & Country Club offers two 18-hole courses and one par-3, executive course. The golf courses are spread across nearly 400 acres of ponds and mature forests. Hawk’s Island is the nine-hole course, situated southeast of the other 36 holes at the club. The terrain is mostly flat but there is some undulation in the large, bent grass greens. The signature hole of the golf course is No. 5, which requires a downward approach shot to a tricky island green that is flanked by bunkers on both sides. The Hawk’s Island Course is ideal for juniors or beginners, but it is also great for golfers who just want a quick but challenging round.

Nice course but probably not worth the drive
We are located near Markham hence we usually play courses in the GTA/Markham area. We decided to try something new and a friend recommended the hawkridge courses in orillia. The drive was about 1.5hr from Markham, traffic was decent at 6am in the morning.
The course itself was in good shape overall, some of the greens have a lot of brown spots, and some were under repair. We played the meadow nest course in the morning and timber ridge right after.
First 9 holes of meadow nest was quite open, and back nine is more tight and requires more hole management.
The timber ridge course was (in my opinion) a bit easier overall, but the layout was still fairly challenging.
It’s a nice course if you are in the area, staff there are nice and helpful, and overall I think it’s a nice course. However, the drive is a bit far for me! But I’ll still come back maybe once a year.
TOO BAD
This course appears to have some issues. Overall it appears at one time it was good but greens were being burnt out with some almost all gone and orange in color. Weather has not be that hot so will be surprised if they have any grass left when it does get hot. Traps were very inconsistent. Some had lots of sand and some were hardpan. Sad to see it going down hill
Golf orillia
This is a very nice course it is always well manicured they are working on greens but still very playable there is 36 holes 4 tee blocks to choose from and it is well spread out and a 9 hole par 3 that is so nice and fun to play great for working on your irons you can also get some great deals through golfnow i recommend playing a round next time you are in orillia
Timber Ridge
We played Timber Ridge at Hawk Ridge for the first time and was excited to play it as I've played Meadow Ridge and was impressed. The course was in good shape but the greens were just punched and we were not told about that when checking in. We were paired up with another 2some which is fine but on the second tee there was a backup with w other groups on the tee. We waited on pretty much every shot. We then found out from the cart girl that she was out of everything as there was a small tournament ahead of us. So we wait all day on every shot but not once did we see a Marshall. When we got to the turn the snack bar was out of buns so we couldn't even get a sausage. The 2some we were playimg with quit after 14 holes and a 2some ahead of us quit after 9 holes because of pace of play
Excellent Staff and Great Value
The staff were excellent. I lost my phone at some point in the day and when I went back the next day they had it for me right at the front desk which was a huge relief.
The fairways were excellent and the rough was also in great shape as it was not very deep but still leaves you worse off than the fairway. The greens (most if not all) did unfortunately have some brown spots, some holes worse than others and most holes was just a couple small spots.
It's hard to better than this course for the money and I would highly recommend.
Great golf course for the time of year
With the late spring we have had, the Course was in surprisingly good condition. Always a pleasure playing the Hawk layouts.
If I had one complaint, (and it is common amoung the half dozen courses I have played to date), it’s the less than acceptable amount of sand in the bunkers.
Will definitely be back
Excellent course in wonderful condition.
The course is in superb condition with wonderful fairways and not too tough rough. Would recommend a lovely afternoon for 18 holes. We did get a little tired and played best ball for the last 3 holes. Luckily we both didn't fall apart on the same hole.
Very good
Everything was good, other than the wait for carts, which led to other problems. We went off late due to a tournament that took all the carts. This was foreseen, and could have been remedied by renting extra carts, or by not booking tee times during this time. This led to a backlog of people playing golf. The pace was ok due to good golfers keeping it moving. Still, it felt slow. People did their best, but we were held back by a crush of players waiting for carts, then going out all at once.
Fun
Everything was great except a lot of dead greens on the back nine. Not sure if winter kill or bad up keep
Great place
Go play it staff was great Marshall’s very good too
All a1

Great Quality Course
Enjoyed the course, Greens were a bit slow.
But overall the course was enjoyable. The front nine was more open, and the back nine more tree lined and more challenging.
