Great course
Plenty of fun to play here and make memories with golfers
Worth every penny
We decided to book on a Wednesday for a Saturday morning, so to find a tee time at 7 am was a miracle in the GTA, this course is nothing fancy but the ability to play a 3 hour round on a Saturday morning with no one in front of us was worth triple the $50 green fee. It had just rained the whole day prior so the course was fairly soft and played extremely fair (no good shots ruined by tough terrain). I can see it being a bit less playable when it’s dry but if it’s raining while you read this, do yourself a favour and scoop a quick cheap round up for the next day.
Good weather, good friends, poor conditions
Have played at Rolling Hills Challenge course before, but not on a Monday, which we discovered meant the clubhouse bistro was closed and there was no beverage cart.
The course itself was extremely dry and therefore the ground was hard, as were the bunkers. It was even challenging to put the tees in the ground (whether playing from the whites or the reds).
There are some decent holes, but in a couple of spots had to wait for others to tee off on the next hole so as not to possibly hit players if we went long on the par 3 before it. Could do with better signage as to where the next hole is. Lots of times tee boxes for two different holes share the same patch of land. Probably won't play there again. The Classic or Bethesda Grange is likely better option.
Very hard fairways
I have played the Challenge course many, many times so this fact is not a surprise to me but it usually happens later in the season. The fairways were very dry and hard as there are no sprinklers on the fairways, they rely on mother nature. But the teeboxes and greens were very good and putting was true. The greens are however a little on the slow side. All in all a good round as I shot an 81 so fin was definitely had.
