Uplands Golf and Ski Club

Been playing this course for years and have always enjoyed it. Unsure if maybe they have new management but had a terrible experience today. We were a group of 6, and had back to back tee times. We played scramble with three teams of two and were told we’re not allowed to have 6 people playing together. We ended up splitting into a twosome and a foursome as per their request because there was a tournament behind us and they wanted us to hurry. We advised we had been waiting for people in front of us regardless, and if we split into two groups we would be playing each shot which would obviously take much longer. We were told “if you don’t want to wait, just skip a hole”. When we finally arrived on the ninth green (in under 2.5 hours on a Saturday morning, so clearly we played quickly) the manager came out to verbally berate us for taking fun too long. She shouted at two women in our group that “this isn’t a learning course” and “you’re not allowed to get your ball out of the stream”. She continued to tell us the logjam was our fault, despite us having pictures of a group of TEN in front of us all golfing together. Even after the marshals tried to explain to her we were not in the wrong, she wouldn’t relent and continued her tirade, trying to belittle our group and further embarrass us, as a crowd had formed from all her yelling. We didn’t even get to putt on the ninth because there was a group behind that was hitting into us at that point. We were told to pick up our balls and leave. It was a terrible experience, and after years of playing that course, I can confidently say I will never return.

It’s a pretty layout but you’ll lose lots of balls here. They are honest about the hilly nature of it and the staff were very friendly. Gorgeous vistas.

I don’t know the answer because since it is only a 9 hole course there is a challenge to coordinate those playing 18 and ycoming to the back 9 if you will with those just playing 9 co-incident with those going around again. Consequently there were too many golfers waiting to tee off at the same time.

Not sure how this could ever be deemed a walkable course or who walks this course. I met some guys who said they have walked it but its challenging with the layout. From Hole 2 to 3 - lots of walking and 4 to 5 that's a distance. On top of the amount of Hills. Did not enjoy the round, strongly suggest Cart. Pace was slow and no marshall to assist with pace of play. Need to add lots of yardage for the hills and slopes. At least I tried!

The fairways all had pools of water and the greens were bone dry.

Enjoyed the sunny day and course obstacles. We were challenged with direction based on the first time playing the course. We walked the course and didn’t exactly expect the steep climbs and elevations changes, we did enjoy the challenge and thankful for the beautiful weather. We will be back to play and will recommend to our friends.
