Beautiful Day Up North
I chose to play Windermere partly to add another notch to my Stanley Thompson designed courses belt. I was treated to an excellently conditioned course, that though not long by todays standards was quite challenging due to its elevation changes, narrow fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small greens. The layout with respect to rock outcroppings is not as dramatic as some other Muskoka courses. The property does lack a driving range. (Net provided instead.) I'll be back for a rematch.
Had a Nice round
Windermere golf course is fun place to play.
Course is in excellent shape & fun for all levels.
Classic Stanley Thompson
Course conditions were excellent. Very old mature Stanley Thompson that is fair but challenging. Located a bit off the beaten path but worth the drive.
Very nice course. The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, some of thre fairways were being aerated which took away from the otherwise pleasant experience.
Great conditions, rude staff
The course was a little wet after heavy rains but otherwise in great shape with the greens very smooth. We walked it in three and a half hours as a slow foursome let us play through. This is a classic old style layout with interesting design and small greens. Fair but challenging. Unfortunately our only interaction with a staff member was the young lady who checked us in and was very rude. Seems that the GolfNow bookings aren’t as welcome as the members. I had a similar experience earlier this year where I was greeted with “oh, you’re the GolfNow group”. If they don’t want public play (they always needed it pre-Covid by the way) then don’t allow it. Treating green fee players like second class citizens in the one year that a pandemic makes you busy doesn’t seem like a good long term plan to me. Like I said, excellent course though. We will keep playing here and endure the 2 minutes of poor treatment at check in.
Yard markers
There were no markers to show how far away from the pin, example 100 yds, 150yds, there were a few but hard to find and it was confusing where to park, the pro shop needs a more visual sign and direction where to park.
Thank you
Great afternoon at Windermere
Golfed at 1pm on a nice 21c afternoon as a foursome. Started the round just ahead of schedule and were completed in just over 4 hours. Absolutely love the 11th Hole Par 3 off the Granite Ledge with magnificent gardens surrounding the Green. Course improvements over the last 2 to 3 years are fantastic. We were members at a course close by but this course and layout is 10 times better !! Our buddy missed an Ace by less than 3 feet on #11.
Good Couse
Course was in great condition. A little wet when I played but still played fair.
A great round..
I thought this course was excellent! Layout was basic at times but some gorgeous holes with elevation changes. Course has very small greens to shoot for so short irons must be on point! Greens played very slow despite being 28 degrees during the afternoon. I’ll definitely come back and give it another go!
Favorite course in muskoka!
Love this course! Well maintained, reasonable price, great value. Go by boat and they will pick you up at the dock. A true cottage experience!
Well maintained, green, challenging but not a long course
Lovely course in immaculate shape considering the dry and hot conditions. Haven't seen a greener course this summer. If you can get a deal it is worth the cost, or just go after 2pm. No problems with bugs during our beginning of August tee-off. Some golfers need to replace their divots though. Overall a great time.
Nice course but, 5 balls being played by group ahead, because they’re members
It’s a nice course well maintained sure. But if you’re not a member prepare to be a second class golfer. The group ahead of me was playing 5 people five balls. When I asked the drink cart if this was normal the first question she asked me was am I a member... do members have extra rights to hold up the course and play players - 5 balls???
Booked on golf now was told it would have a cart. Arrived no cart, Golf now was a pain to deal with.
In short it’s a good track sure, but the service is subpar, gold now is a pain to work with and I’d in future play another course where you are treated respectfully, the game is respected, and not through golf now.
