Corsicana Country Club
About
This links-style course features wide fairways. The golfer will rarely play from a flat lie due to the contour of the fairways. Water hazards (a pond and a lake) come into play on at least seven holes. The green on hole 18, a 403-yard par 4, is the only green not surrounded by sand bunkers. The men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 76.9 and a slope of 136.
Designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1914 during his Texas swing, thus is a links-style course with tree-lined fairways built around a large lake. Amid the rolling hills and oak trees you’ll find few level lies. No. 2 is a tough par 3 at 225 yards over water and a green surrounded by bunkers.
Getting there : From I-45 south, take Exit 31 and turn right onto Beaton St.. Look for the signs to the course.

Not worth it unless you’re local
Greens are terrible, bare spots filled with sand. Bunkers are also terrible, need sand and maintenance. Fairways and rough blend together. Ant mounds everywhere so watch where you step. Navigating parts of the course is tricky as there aren’t any signs and finding the correct blue tee boxes was a bit of a search. Used the map on the scorecard to help navigate. No bev cart the entire round. Distances to green are either not clearly marked or not visible anymore due to poor maintenance (luckily had my rangefinder). Probably was nicer many decades ago, but too many issues nowadays.
It's an older course, but it checks out.
This is one of the "Private Access" courses that really shouldn't be. Beautiful land, not many people playing, good food, friendly staff. The course conditions were questionable, fairway grass was about as deep as the rough in most places. Quite a few of the greens were more sand than grass, and some of the bunkers were more grass than sand. Very hilly course, which makes it more about precision than power. Overall, not terrible, but most public courses are in better shape.
Great course!
I highly recommend this course to anyone. The staff and members were very friendly (played with a group of members), the course conditions were better than expected given the summer we had (a few greens needed repair, but nothing egregious, especially for Texas), and the pace of play was immaculate (virtually had the course to ourselves). Easily worth the 1 hour drive from the north side of Dallas, will definitely return.
Worthy of your time….
All inclusive review. I was not surprised by the genuine welcome of everyone. The ladies in the kitchen,, all buoyant smiles helped navigate me around. Andrew in the pro shop, fine young man. The course was in good enough shape to say it was great. I came here because of A.W. Tillinghast who allegedly influenced the design. It’s tight in some places, but who cares. It’s a stimulating course. I had the course to myself for the majority of the round. I hope you feel the history when you play here and the hospitality on display. Real people, beautiful golf experience. While turning in the cart, I met Owen. A fine young man. I felt good here in Corsicana and am eager to return.
The course was nice played longer thsn the yardage but had a good mix of ooen fairways but the back nine was tight thinner fairways and a couple holes right in top of each other. But the fairways and rough were in great shape especially for this time of year in Texas. Some of the greens however had a few bald spots but other than that nice course great staff that had mentioned they were doing alot if renovation and sprucing up so we shall see what the future brings
