December golf
Great day. Love the course. Plenty of room for me but challenging enough. Greens in great shape.
Why the Hype?
I play all over. From Cleburne to Frisco to Waco to Gun Barrel City. Based on reviews I tried this place out. Do not buy the hype. This place is below average all the way around from the cart girl who would rather text and speed around the course than actually let someone buy Gatorade to the wannabe’s zipping from one hole to another to the groups of 6 and 7 playing together with no regard to anyone else on the course. It wasn’t expensive and I scored well so it’s not that just know this place is not all that. Very doubtful I will play here again
Excellent shape
Fairways thick and greens are really good. Be sure and check your putts to see if you’re with or against the grain. It makes a huge difference in speed.
CCCC - great course
Loved this course. Plenty of fairway room for me as an intermediate type player but if you found yourself off the fairway you’d have to navigate a small forest to get out. Fun. The fairways were in fantastic shape and the greens were big. Of course this meant a lot of LONG birdie putts for me. The greens were in great shape and true. There are a couple picturesque water holes that will challenge. This day the wind was blowing off the water at 19 MPH and directly in your face on many holes which made it even more fun. I’d like more distance information from the fairways so if you have a range finder bring it. The course was packed. Obviously very popular but moved along. Can’t wait to play here again.
Classic Course
If you want to get away and play an old school tree lined layout, generally with good greens and overall course conditions then this is your place. An hour drive from DFW...good value and well worth it . Nice folks out there too!
Bugs!!!
The folks were really friendly. The course looks good but the rough is really heavy in some areas. The greens looked great but were shockingly slow. The real issue was the gnats. They were everywhere for the entire 3.5 hours. They were in our ears, our noses and all over the cart and bags. We almost didn't finish because they were so thick. The cargo area of my jeep is covered in dead gnats that had attached themselves to our golf bags.
Course in good condition
Greens were in great condition. Fairways starting to dry out.
Always fun from the tips
Good old school course. A lil soft around the greens. But they rolled well
Members only?
Letting non-members play is a good move because everyone who does so will seriously consider joining! Best track on Cedar Creek Lake. Big shady trees are beautiful and a relief from TX heat. Keeping underbrush at bay beneath those trees is a big help for not losing balls and having an enjoyable round.
