Heather Ridge Golf Course
About
The golf course at Heather Ridge provides not only a good game but also spectacular views overlooking the Rocky Mountains. The former private, 18-hole course is 6,106 yards at its longest tees and plays to a par of 70. Renowned golf course designer Richard Phelps designed the course, which opened in 1972. The small greens are undulating and extremely sloped. The course also features narrow fairways and water hazards. The most difficult hole on the Heather Ridge Golf Course is the 10th hole, which is a par-5 that covers 506 yards.

The storm missed us but we did get a sunset rainbow. Photo submitted by Buckeye28 on 08/01/2013
Excellent course with a catch
First off, the course is in great shape. The fairways are nice, the majority of the course is great. At this time, the greens are a little hard, and approach shots are difficult as the ball tends to run. I look forward to playing this course again once the greens have been able to absorb water.
Good value, Great course
Short par 4's, a lot of hazards and bunkers. Precise shots needed to most greens.
The fast greens are a great place to work on your short game
The course plays short, even from the blues, with several tee shots played with 3W or irons. Slow play prevented pulling driver on some short par 4s. Overall I enjoyed the round and a good strategy is essential to scoring. The fast and smooth greens are a great place to work on your putting and short game.
ewwwww!
Couldn't find the course.
when I found the course, couldn't find the pro shop with out searching an entire two story building and finally asking someone. When I entered the Pro shop,,,no one at the desk. I waited. Ten minute call, I found out means," YOU ARE ON THE 1ST TEE, NOW! Cart completely died and was left for dead just past the number two tee box. Yardages are NOT correct on many holes. Holes are cut on greens on top of hills, along the sidecut, etc. Unfair even for the pros.
Hit a great drive on Six, only to have the ball roll under the net and onto the driving range for a penalty. Guy turns on the sprinklers to blow them out, while we're putting on 10. No bathroodms, little water. Bad maps and directions. I plan on never playing this course again. Poor is the best word I can use to describe this experience.
Scenic Gem
Great course, tried to be a private club but became public. Played 30 holes as my partner couldn't make it and I had prepaid. Would love to live in one of the patio homes on the course.
Good I the money
Very tight. Not a lot of free room. Good for the value
Love the course.
Hard to make a review...played under poor weather conditions. High 30s with swirling winds at the start made judging shots difficult. For early season, the course was in good shape. Can't wait to play again when warmer weather arrives.
Good value
Considering the early Spring conditions, the course was in very good condition. Staff was very friendly and helpful in getting us out fast. Played in 3 and a half hours in very windy conditions.
Course does have deferred maintenance in its cart paths.
Old Course but Inner City Charm
This golf course was extremely fun to play with a nice layout and some challenging holes. It is an older course right in the city, but includes several holes with water hazards and some tight fairways to challenge your accuracy off the tee. The course wraps around a housing community which makes some holes a challenge if you do not hit it straight. The staff was friendly, the facility offers a nice driving range and putting area. I played on the twilight rate which was reasonable and well worth the money. The course is not extremely long, so it was a nice jaunt over four hours. Long hitters will not use their driver much as I noticed most long hitters using a 3i or hybrid. Most holes are around 350-390 average. I would highly recommend this course.
Interesting Greens
While a short course for Par 70 many hazards both water and sand as well as narrow fairways with out of bounds on most holes made for a challenge in club selection and accuracy off the tee. The greens are undulating and not obvious to read. Best of all the course is affordable and centrally located. We will play this again.
Nice course for the money
I played for the 1st time this past weekend. I like the course its self. It's not a long course. And the greens played pretty tricky as they were pretty fast and not flat at all. I like that its a relatively cheap course to play, but there were a few things i didnt like. 1) the driving range doesnt have any yardage signs out on it. 2) while playing, I didnt see anything indicating yardages other the typicial 100,150, and 200 yrd marks. 3) this was the killer, the pace of play was just under 5 hrs for our round. There was no marshall/ranger. I will definitely play the course again as i can deal with the 3 things that i didnt like.
great little course for a beginner
great value, short and easy. great for beginners and walkers
Spring golf - a good choice
It"s Spring golf and none of the courses are in great shape, this one is in better shape than most this time of the year. Not play here before has it's drawbacks as there are some blind shots and water or hazards you can reach by using the wrong club. I made that mistake more than once. Greens were in good shape and pretty fast for the Spring. I expect them to be "Fast" the rest of the year. With a lot of changes on the greens, being in the correct place on the green is important, if not you could easily be looking at a 3 putt.
I'll be back to play when it is running at normal conditions. It will be a challenge even for a short hitter.
A fun course with enough challenge for an average player.
A great value for the money. The day was great and met some wonderful people.
course is in great shape for this time of year
course was in great shape for this time of year, nice work guys. Also the price golf now offered was amazing love you guys. Cart paths are a little bumpy but no complaints here.
Great!
I got on for under $20, on a Sunday...regardless, I'd pay double that for this course. It was a nice layout and it pretty darn good shape for a November round. Worth it.
Disappointing for the $$
Part of the problem we experienced was trying to book a tee time for a Sat. morning tee time the night before. Slim pickings were available and I begrudgingly agreed to pay $44 for Heather Ridge. Big disappointment! Despite all the rain we have received this course is in rough shape. Lots of bare spots, the greens needed to be mowed and it looks like little attention has been paid to course maintenance. For $44, I expected a lot more but I guess beggars can't be choosers. The course owners need to invest some serious money into this course and facilities to justify the greens fees. It could be a lot better but if the demand is there I guess they can get away with offering a sub-par course for a premium rate. The only saving grace was the guy at the check-in counter and the twosome who we played with who reminded me that we are out there to have fun (thanks guys). If the powers that be redesign this track, put some time and effort into maintaining the course and bulldoze the clubhouse, I will return. Otherwise, I will save my $44 and do something else with my Sat. morning.
GREAT COURSE FOR THE MONEY
EXCELLENT CONDITIONS FOR OCTOBER. THEY EVEN
PUT ENCLOSURES ON THE GOLF CARTS. GOOD JOB
GETTING RID OF LEAVES THAT LITTER MANY COURSES
THIS TIME OF YEAR.
Decent course, good value
After making a very last minute reservation, I was able to play an early lunch round with almost no bother. Outside of just a handful of groups on the course (who were very nice in allowing me to play through)I was able to golf at my own leisure, by myself (which is what I wanted). I played two balls and was never bothered by anyone. I play very fast and am good enough to keep up a brisk pace, so I scooted around in barely 2.5 hours. The course was in good shape and the greens were quick! I enjoyed my time and the price was great!
