NIce Course
I like the course a lot. It was much better than Tom O'leary. Nice driving range and chipping green. Couldn't use the shipping green because it looked like a high school team was practicing. Was wet, and cart path only , which was difficult with the wide fairways. Overall, want to golf it again for sure. Almost as much as Hawktree.
Geofence golf carts
Course was nice and staff was friendly. I had a HORRIBLE round simply because the GPS on the golf carts. It is not properly programmed. I was over 150 yrs from the green and not in the restricted area. My cart GPS suddenly tells me that I am too close to the hole and for the next 15 min it would only travel aprox 1/2 mph.. I was so frustrated that I called the clubhouse on hole 6. I quit right there. Drove the cart back to the clubhouse and they refunded 1/2 of my money. I will NEVER AGAIN waste my time over such a stupid design. Ruined my round.
Don't let the trees take all your balls.
Riverwood is a nice alternative in Bismarck to the more expensive Hawktree course. This course is inundated with huge trees that just seem to grab everything in the vicinity of them. If you're hitting in them or even grazing them you will a long round with many rescue shots coming your way.
The staff was very nice but did stress the cart path only rule, which I felt was unwarranted under the conditions of the course. At $46 and no apparent reason for this rule there was no way I was going to follow this rule.
The greens were a little dry and the sand bunkers were almost washed out. Aside from that it was in very good shape. They could certainly use some water coolers for us golfers.
