Watch Out for Jerks
I honestly cannot remember the last time I walked off a course without finishing, but I was forced to do so at Deer Track today for my own sanity.
The course is in the middle of nowhere, so I understand that they need to cater to whatever regular play they can get. But I've been to many other courses that have leagues and I have never seen them this mismanaged, nor were we treated so rudely by those playing that we decided leaving was the better option rather than spending time in the county jail. These men were obnoxious, rude, and downright disrespectful. I know Covid has made everyone crazy, but jerks are jerks, and if they prefer this clientele I suggest they keep them, and you follow me down the road to much better courses that have some semblance of professionalism and ability to manage a tee sheet/league.
It's a shame because there are other positives and negatives i can say about the course (layout was interesting, but way too much crabgrass). But I was so put off, it's just disgusting. I will not be back.
Fun!
Good challenging course which is well laid out and a pleasure to play. The only drawback is the lack of a driving range to allow adequate warm-up before a very tough first hole.
Deer Track is Central Indiana's Hidden Gem
I can't say enough great things about Deer Track golf course. From the owners (who are wonderful) to the course itself, it's a fun experience every time I go out there. Just a few more miles than my the local courses but due to the affordable green fees it's worth the drive.
Fun course
The course is fun to play. Picturesque par 3 holes, wooded areas, and a stream on several holes...Very enjoyable to play. Had a great time.
Awesome
Have always loved this course. Ken takes great care of all of it!
Rainy but fun
Had to wait out the rain. After it passed had an enjoyable round of golf. I will play this course again.
Great place
As always Ken has an outstanding course in great shape after all the rain
Won't return
The course had a nice layout, but was covered in dandelions grass was tall and had puddles. We drove almost am hour to golf there; we had reservations for 12 a round and the guy didn't honor it and tried to charge us 20 a round and was very rude.
Much better course than I expected
This course is quite a ways from any major town. It is close to I65 which didn't take long to find. A lot of very flat farmland on the way there, so I wasn't expecting much. When I got there I realized I was mistaken. I was greeted with a view of hole 18's green - basically an island green surrounded by water. It had rained 2 or 3 inches previously so everything was lush, maybe a little too much as greens were slow and the fairway needed a mowing (too wet to get the mowers out). The rest of the course was pleasing to the eye, too. Woods, creeks and challenging elevation changes, made for a beautiful but tough course.
Great course, amazing staff
A really fun course, after a good amount of rain these were the most receptive greens I've ever played on. A few inconsiderate players not fixing their ball marks kept the greens from being absolutely perfect. A few dead spots in the fairway, but that's to be expected with the recent drought. Other than that, the only criticism I have is that the on-course men's bathroom after the 7th hole was really disgusting. The 18th hole w/island green is a great finishing hole, puts a nice bookend on the round. I will definitely be back, the staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Great day
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Course is in excellent shape...
Go play Deer Track
A challenging, fun course to play. Possibly the most challenging first 5 holes in the area. The course is a shot makers place to play as driver is often the wrong play. Put it in the right places and score well. Get too aggressive and you may find big numbers. A number of blind shots and the need to work the ball both ways means you need to pay attention to each shot. Greens are in very good shape and are very receptive. Go play this place.
Play this course at least once if living in Lafayette, IN area
Be conservative off the tee with the first five holes, and then scoring is relative easy. Don't get behind a group of local golfers or you will be in for slow play.
Great course friendly staff!
Always like playing this course. In great shape and great value. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will be back soon!!
Great deal and course was in great shape.
The course I believe runs $20 right now for 18(cart included ) on weekdays and $25 on weekends. I actually got a hot deal so I paid even less than $20. The course was in great shape and the pace out there has never been a problem. Highly recommend this course right now.
Great course!
I loved playing this course. It is the best maintain course around. With no rain recently there were hardly any brown spot and the greens are some of the best kept around. The staff was very friendly and courteous and will definitely play this course again. Highly recommend!
Great course
