Cheekwood Golf Club
About
Situated in the heart of Franklin, the Cheekwood Golf Club (formerly known as Fairways on Spencer Creek) is conveniently located only 20 minutes south of Nashville. This popular layout has been ranked as one of the top 10 nine-hole golf courses in Tennessee. Despite being a shorter course, the layout still offers several holes with water hazards and sand bunkers. The tight fairways and rolling terrain also require a fair amount of accuracy. The course has enough challenges as well as enough variety throughout the holes to make it a fun round for more skilled players, which also makes it a great place for beginners to get some practice. Being that the round is usually quick, the golf course is a popular choice for golfers looking to get in a quick round after work.

Nice course
The course was in decent shape for this time of year. Waiting on the grass to green up so the greens were challenging. I wasn’t aware until we arrived that it was a 9 hole course. Our two-some was paired up with a local two-some and we were fortunate in our pairing. The 2 other guys were a pleasure to golf with and were able to share some expertise in how the play the holes.
Worst Course in Middle Tennessee
This place is a goat track. Greens were terrible. There were a million patches of different grass popping through the greens making it like pinball when you putt. Every tee box was hard dirt with no grass. Bunkers were hard dirt. All par 3 tee boxes had beat up hitting mats on them, probably because there was no grass. Make sure you get beverages for the entire time you’re there because the starters rush you out of the clubhouse if you decide to play the same 9 holes back to back. Even if you’re waiting on the staff to get your drinks. This course is a disgrace to the game of golf.
9 hole course.
Perhaps I didnt read the full description of the course, but I did not know it was only 9 holes before ariving and that when you book a tee time you are only booking for 9 holes. Apparently military discounts aren't available on weekends either. No real practice are to speak of other than a small putting green near the first tee. Supposedly there's a practice hole where you have to use your own balls but I was never directed too it or saw it. In my opinion the course is over priced being that its only 9 holes and in mediocre shape. Staff was very friendly and gave recommendations for nicer courses in the are. Course is very short as well. 2500 from the tips and 2200 from the white.
Not bad
Rough greens. I was itching to golf. Scratched it.
Monday funday
Cheekwood is a great course when you want to get just 9 holes in. Cheekwood is in great shape and has challenging fairways. Some fairways test your ability to hit a narrow path. The greens are not the best but when you want just 9 holes and have plans go here and get the first tee time.
Other courses in the area were asked if we could start on 10 and only play 9 and they refused. They stared everyone must start on 1. Too bad.
The worst course I have ever played
The course was way too expensive for the condition that it was in, fairways were in bad shape, greens were not cut, very poor manicured greens, one green even had big patches of grass on it for a repair, horrible. We were down for a wedding that night and wanted to play a little golf, looks nice on the website, very deceiving. One staff member in particular actually came out and told us we were playing too slow,, we were playing 10-12 minute holes with four golfers, it was cart path only also through the first six holes, we played the nine again, and before we teed off this gentleman in particular told me you will be playing from the whites now, you aren’t good enough to play from the blues, that upset me very much, I had some words with him, explaining he doesn’t get to choose where I play from, but he insisted on it, I played from the white tees on my second nine, I didn’t have too, but I did. This course needs some serious help, this gentleman in question needs some customer service training. I would not recvomend playing this course, a waste of money. Very disappointed.
Never going back
As an out of state golfer looking to get a round in while visiting friends in Franklin, Cheekwood Gold Club attracted our attention with the price. After looking at the website and seeing pictures of the course that we thought we were playing at, we reserved our time. However the course is not as advertised. Tee Boxes were dirt, greens were longer than some fairways, and the hospitality was not welcoming. Highly suggest paying the extra dollar and going somewhere else.
Poor conditions.
Course needs a lot of work. We did go in January, however, it seems as though they just left the course to fend for itself. Greens haven’t been cut in a long time, brush needs to be cleaned up, and tee boxes completely redone.
Good Experience
Played with my son in law, a beginning golfer; we both really enjoyed ourselves; I’ve been playing the course for over 20 years, and appreciate the improvement made over the years.
Convenient, accommodating. Good shape for winter.
Great little course. Friendly staff. Wonderful location. My "go to" course first quick play.
Greens are above par for winter.
Member review
We have been members for a few years. The course has never been better. We met the new groundskeeper, Andy. What an asset he is Cheekwood. The leaves were gone, the greens are in much better shape and he improved the atmosphere.
Great for Iron Work
The staff here is always friendly and accommodating. Driver needed on just a couple holes, but the real thing about this 9-hole track is that it’s an affordable and excellent place to work on your iron game. Greens need some TLC and the tee box on Number 5 is atrocious, but the course is otherwise in respectable condition. Some decently challenging plays that make it moderately challenging in a few spots, but for the seasoned golfer, it’s a place to practice, mainly.

Nice course... always fun when you make your first eagle then and double and triple bogey after. a little confusion on the mobile check in piece with the starter and he sent out a 4 some in front of 4 2 somes so pace was slow... but still a good time!
greatest public course conditions
the grasses were cut and watered perfectly - hole placement excellent. very welcoming staff - great value.
