Cheekwood Golf Club
About
Situated in the heart of Franklin, the Cheekwood Golf Club (formerly known as Fairways on Spencer Creek) is conveniently located only 20 minutes south of Nashville. This popular layout has been ranked as one of the top 10 nine-hole golf courses in Tennessee. Despite being a shorter course, the layout still offers several holes with water hazards and sand bunkers. The tight fairways and rolling terrain also require a fair amount of accuracy. The course has enough challenges as well as enough variety throughout the holes to make it a fun round for more skilled players, which also makes it a great place for beginners to get some practice. Being that the round is usually quick, the golf course is a popular choice for golfers looking to get in a quick round after work.

Decent track
For 50% off you can't really complain. It's a short and fun little course. Good for working on your iron game. Don't know if full price is worth it though.
Needs some TLC
Cheek wood is a fine place to go work on your game. It’s not fancy, the clubhouse lacks atmosphere, and the course seems to always be in need of some TLC. That said, I like going here on a whim, to practice and play with my son.
You get a cart with the relatively inexpensive greens fees so that’s nice.
Overall, a decent track.
Oh, and I got my first hole-in-one on #2 in July of 2020!
Way too much pressure.
This course is close & inexpensive which is why I suppose the tee times are so close together (or the group behind us was just very anxious). I played with my 13 year old son & we felt so much pressure to go as fast as possible. This kind of gold isn’t fun for anyone especially those of us who are not great at golf but are trying to improve our game. We will play there again but hopefully the group behind us won’t be breathing down our neck!!
New Ownership, Same old Joke
I hate this place so much, and it doesn't seem to matter who owns it. The course itself isn't bad, if you can handle 3 hours for a round of 9 holes on a par 33ish course. Just paid over 30 bucks for a 5:12 "twilight rate" tee time for two of us. Two teenagers checked us in (no masks or guidelines by the way, just go on in everyone! It's a party!) up in the clubhouse, then we saw 2 kids cleaning up carts and I never saw another staff member while we were there. No rangers, no starter, no adult anywhere. The first hole green is apparently being worked on (?) because instead of the green they cut half the hole out by creating a cup and flag in the middle of the fairway and spray painting a circle around it. No joke. No starter so anyone could go out whenever they wanted, which meant we started late because it was a free for all. (Apparently no rules means it's a great place for the high school kids to hang out. Though they weren't the problem) We finally got to hole 5, and no kidding there were FIVE groups on the next hole either playing or waiting. Five. On one hole. Which was a very short par 4. And three more groups on ours. We waited long enough to play out the fifth hole and then just called it a day and drove in. What a joke. This place will not get any more of my money, I don't care how much I have to pay or how far I have to drive to play somewhere else.
My review
Had a great time and well worth the cost. We really enjoyed that it was tucked away in the country.
A few spots on the greens that I died but overall in very good shape.
We are looking forward to going out there again soon.
Great little exec course for a quick round
Love this course and proximity to Franklin and Brentwood. Plenty of little challenges to keep more experienced players engaged while letting beginners build confidence Love going here after work to knock out 9 or 18 before dark.
Not impressed
The kids running the course dont know anything about the course. There is no starter. The first hole does not have a green. I actually ended up playing the #2 green by mistake. The layout is a bit wonky at this track. The afternoon discounted fees are $21.00 for 9 holes including cart. I asked how much it would be to walk and it was only $1.50 per person cheaper for some reason. I suppose the girl working the counter could have been miscalculating. Anything is possible here. This course recently changed owners and names and their website makes it out to be the premier executive course in the area...yeah, ok. The clientele are mostly teens and beginners who dont really want to play by the rules, just looking to have a try at playing golf.
