Cheekwood Golf Club
About
Situated in the heart of Franklin, the Cheekwood Golf Club (formerly known as Fairways on Spencer Creek) is conveniently located only 20 minutes south of Nashville. This popular layout has been ranked as one of the top 10 nine-hole golf courses in Tennessee. Despite being a shorter course, the layout still offers several holes with water hazards and sand bunkers. The tight fairways and rolling terrain also require a fair amount of accuracy. The course has enough challenges as well as enough variety throughout the holes to make it a fun round for more skilled players, which also makes it a great place for beginners to get some practice. Being that the round is usually quick, the golf course is a popular choice for golfers looking to get in a quick round after work.

Condition
Course conditions need some work. Greens were almost not puttable. Length and degree of difficulty are good for my grandson to learn the game. Price is acceptable.
The greens where in poor shape
Each of the greens had a different speed, and on many of them there was no grass just dirt and sand top layer. In addition you would expect them to at least mow or roll the greens but there was nothing done. On top of that parts of the course were bone dry. While other parts of the corse had visible water. This was even worse in the sand traps. Parts were as hard as dirt while parts of the same trap were dry and played as normal. And the speed of play took us 3 hours to play the front nine. And when making the turn (since it is a nine hole course) 3 other groups were put in front of us. We ended up leaving the course without playing the last 4 holes since the speed of play was even slower then the first nine.
Decent course
Fairways are in great condition. Greens were fairly inconsistent and weren't in amazing shape. Clubhouse only had chips and some candy, no hot food.
The course has some tight driving holes and fun to play. Some of the greens where really hard and dried out.
Pace of Play was the worst I’ve experienced since picking up the game
A bachelor party of 11 people showed up right before several confirmed tee times. The course allowed them to go in front of everyone who had tee times. The course also allowed the bachelor party to play in one sixsome and the other a fivesome. We all complained several times to the clubhouse and nothing was done about it. It took almost 3.5 hours to finish 9 holes. I immediately went and complained to the clubhouse. Terry told me to just take it up with Golf Now since I booked online. Golf Now then had to call Terry several times and waited on hold (according to the CSR from golf now ) over 10 minutes. Terry confirmed everything I said to Golf Now and Golf Now gave me a voucher that is only good Monday - Thursday after 2 pm on a hot deal. I work Monday - Friday 9 am - 6 pm. When am I gonna be able to use a voucher Monday - Thursday after 2 pm? This whole experience was awful. I would never play this course again or book through golf now.
Quick and Fun
It’s a great quick course and very convenient.
Good condition and interesting holes.
Greens in good condition and pretty quick.
Nice Day
Nice quick round today. The fairways were in good shape.
Fun course
This was a fun course. Just getting back into golf and my partner was just beginning golf. This course was a nice layout that was challenging but not too hard for a beginner. Not so busy that you felt rushed and the staff was so friendly and made us feel at home. I will definitely play this course again, probably a bunch more times.
Greens
Course is in great shape. The Only issue;the greens have just recently been aerated so the roll is a little “bumpy”.
Fun Track...Friendly Staff
Last minuted decision to play. The price helped seal the deal ($24 online). After all the rain, the course was in good shape. Good mix of fun and challenging holes - the par 4s were pretty long. The staff was friendly & helpful, which is a nice way to start.
I'm going to replay next time. Met the actual owner on the way out, who mentioned that improvements are coming. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town.
Not a bad practice course
The course has no par fives (par32) but the holes are all regular length. Some greens were in poor condition but others were ok. The fairway grass was in good shape, allowing good opportunities for shots to the greens. Overall a nice place to work on your game or take a youngster to play without a ton of people pushing you because the course is over-booked.
Construction
The course is under construction and is now a par 3 with 2 remaining par 4’s. The price should be cut in half. $45 to play 18 holes on a very short par 3 course with rough greens and massive construction is unacceptable.
Good Round of Golf
Course was in good shape despite all the rain this past few days. Staffcpurteous and helpful. Very nice layout soon to be lengthened. Great course for all levels.
Nice People, Terrible Price, Terrible Greens and Rough
The good about his course, Great staff and an amazing setting to play golf in, it honestly does look like a top notch course from the first tee, and then you meet the rest of the course. I give them the fact that they are the only Public course in Franklin, other than Forrest Crossing which is always slammed, however they could do a much much better job of maintaining this place. I’ve played here 4 times in the last two years and every time the greens are in the same awful shape they were in the time before, so many spots where your basically putting on sand instead of grass and the drainage on a lot of the tee boxes is so bad that when you place your ball on the ground it gets coated in mud without you even having moved it. The rough looks like it never even gets cut and if you hit one in the first cut, you’ll probably spend a good five minutes trying to find it. As far as pace of play goes the regulars act like they can just play like no one is behind them and they will look at you standing on the tee and just laugh. I honestly waited ten minutes standing on the tee box at one point because the guys in front of me, who I had seen before and had already made us wait on the first tee, were hitting multiple shots and trying to work on there swing when they had three groups behind them playing at a normal pace and they didn’t care. On top of all of that they charge a ridiculous rate for nine holes two players cost us $80. If this place took care of their course on a regular basis and did a better job of regulating extremely slow players it would be one of the best nine hole courses in the state, but unfortunately it just seems like they don’t care.
Nice Folks
The people that work there and the people you golf with are very nice. Great value for the money.
Enjoyable
Super nice folks there. A good value if you just want to get out and have a quick little short round of golf for a great price.
Fun, short 9
9 hole course. Good little course to get in 9 holes at the last minute. Not a typical layout (par 32- 2600 yards from the back tees), no par 5's and more than enough par 3's. A couple par 4's were nice and challenging with narrow drives. Again, it's a fun course to get out a play when making a last minute tee time but wouldn't recommend it for 18 with your golf crew.
