Amongst the chemical plants, refinery towers, and wood-lined waterways of La Porte lies the 18-hole Jay Riviere municipal known as Bay Forest. Riviere's design opened in 1988, featuring a tight front nine that opens up on the lake-dominated back side. Water is in play on 16 of 18 holes. Because of La Porte's proximity to the Gulf, the coastal winds make this a long course.
Despite its tight nature, the front nine offers a few nice birdie opportunities, including the short par 3 No. 6. This hole generally only requires a 9 iron to carry the bunker fronting the green.
On the back, the par 5 No. 10 is one of the most birdie-friendly holes on the course. It's followed by the signature No. 11-a great-looking dogleg right that bends around a pond to a well-bunkered green. The play with the approach on 11 is to leave it below the hole.
The par 5 No. 18 is a challenging finisher that requires good golf shots into the wind and the accuracy to avoid the water that sneaks into the fairway in the landing area from the right. The second shot must carry water and a bunker, and the recommended play on the approach is to keep it on the right side of the green.
Getting there : From Hwy. 45 south, take the 610 Loop north. When you come to Hwy. 225 head east and take the Pasadena exit. Turn right, find Hwy. 146 and go south (right). Next, get off at the Fairmont Pkwy. exit and turn left. When you get to South Broadway St., turn right and drive 1 mile to the course. The clubhouse is on the right side of the street.

Great course!
I hadn’t played here before and saw it got good reviews so I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised at the course layout, ease of play and overall beauty of this course. I’ll be back! Short drive from Houston and well worth it!
Great Course for the Price
Great course for only $35 as a walker! The greens were smooth, the tee boxes could be better but are okay, the fairways were pretty clean. It’s close to the water, so it can be really windy, which I think adds a nice challenge and change of play style. I’ll be back!
Bay Forest
Bay Forest never disappoints. Course is in great condition for this time of year and getting better every week.
Finished in under 4 hours.
Only criticism I have would be that a few of the cart paths need to be fixed.

Greens were excellent. I love the layout of this course. I will be back.
Very nice course. Greens were excellent. Fairways are greening up nicely. One tee box was under repair. A must play again !!!
Bay Forest Delivers Again!
Bay Forest Delivers Again! This golf course consistently delivers a quality golf course experience for the money. The Greens were in excellent condition and overall rolling very fast and smooth. Several areas were dry and firm, as we transition to the growing season these ares are coming out of dormancy. Bunkers were a little ungroomed, however more of just a much needed morning rake job than anything. Overall quite nice playability for the weekend green fee of $49
Good as usual
The course is in great shape as usual. Pace of play on the front nine was great but ran into a little bit of backup on the back nine. My only knock on this course is they make you share a cart with someone you get paired up with even though there are plenty of available carts.

Courses well kept it was a very windy day lot of water to be aware of. I enjoy playing this course.

Always a great time at BF. Great layout. Challenging but an old guy can still have fun.
Good course
I like this course. Greens and fairways are always nice and keep. Staff is always friendly. Course layout is nice even for beginners. I try to play it on hot deals but sometime pay full price which still is not bad. I recommend this course if you around it. Also this course is on my Garmin golf app and watch which is a bonus.
Fun Course to play
Fairways and greens were is good condition. Must be the time of year, but mosquitoes were the only issue.
