About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Nice Course

Condition Declining
I have been playing this course for the last 10-years, and this is the worst condition I've seen the tee boxes in! The tee boxes are horrendous... completely torn up, hard as a rock, and un-mown in many cases. Hard to find a decent place to tee your ball and stand on even ground! Maybe a little water might help? The fairways were in decent shape... at least they were green! The greens were in good shape despite bing aerated and sanded, so at least they are trying to maintain them! Better options at the moment for the same price! I love this course, so I hope they get some maintenance under control!
No marshal all site, VERY slow pace of play.
Great course. Greens were just punched when we played but fairways were nice and rough was decent. Easy course some holes were tight and difficult, would highly recommend playing blues or gold.
FIX THE TEE BOXES!
Great course, the greens are ok but the tee boxes need to get fixed! It’s hard hitting a ball when your feet aren’t on level ground. There are groups that play really slow and no Marshall on the course to help keep the pace of playing moving. We finally passed a group after watching them pull out the ball retriever a few times with no regard to anyone behind them
Battleground golf
Course was in great shape. Pace of play was great.
Cart path only which always makes play slower. But, enjoyed the course overall. Need to be an accurate driver on this course. Tee boxes do need work. The course was just punched so the greens were bumpy. I’d play this again in a few weeks when the greens should be better.
Rain day
We played early after it rained for days so of course it was cart path only. I only wish they would have notified us that the greens were recently airated before we showed up to play.
Always a good time
Great Staff, course is always great. Very Windy, but they cannot control that. Greens seemed slower yesterday than normal, but we in decent condition. some bad spots on a few of them
Too slow
Took almost 5 hours for 2 low handicap golfers to get 18 in. Tee times are too close together and the back up started on the 2nd hole.
Tee Boxes need work
My only complaint is how bad some of the tee boxes are. The greens have gotten better over the last couple months and the pace of play was decent today. I think playing in the morning plays faster than the afternoons.
Reasonable Fee
The course layout is nice! The course is well maintained. The atmosphere was glorious! I’m looking forward to coming back.
Battleground
Overall, one of my favorite courses to play. Staff is great. Haven’t had a bad experience yet. Even with a group of 5 playing ahead of us today, still finished in just over 4 hours.

Great challenging course
Great course with some challenging holes that you have to pick your way around good mixture of par3/4/5 with plenty of of well places traps and a whole lot of water to negotiate
Some of the the greens getting a little sketchy but they are working in them
