Spring Valley Golf Course
About
Spring Valley Golf Course is a public, 18-hole course that features a rolling, hilly terrain with stately Cottonwood trees that are over 75 years old sprinkled throughout. Designed by Ross Graves, the golf course took over three years to construct, which is understandable considering its elevation of 6400 feet and its hilly terrain. The course is 7,180 yards from its championship tees with a par of 72. Golfers will have to employ their short game for this course. Spring Valley Golf Course's signature hole is the 17th, which is a par-3 that requires a tee shot not only through trees but also over a creek that winds through the course. There is also plenty of wildlife, including rabbits, deer, and antelope, for those who enjoy animals.

My favorite Colorado course
Unfortunately for me I live over 50 miles away. Otherwise, I'd join Spring Valley as a member. It is worth the 70-minute drive to me and I go there often. The layout of the course is about perfect for public play. Too many courses want to have the toughest course around and introduce playing qualities that are not much fun for the average golfer. My home course, for example, has ridiculously mounded and domed greens that should be reserved for professional play--they only embarrass most public golfers. This course is always in great shape and the staff goes the extra step to make golf day pleasurable. The driving range is huge and can accommodate a ton of golfers. Colorado has an awful lot of excellent golf courses but this one is my favorite.
Great condition
The course is in spectacular shape. Best I’ve ever seen in my 8 years of playing it. Greens are fast but true and hold chips and approaches.
Nice layout but very dry
Like this course because it's reasonably priced and somewhat challenging. Today it was VERY dry, many many brown areas on the fairways. The greens were in excellent shape though, approach shots were leaving ball marks so that was good. Staff was pleasant as always, no on course beverage service today, make sure to take your own water.
No amenities on a Saturday???
It’s 95 degrees outside on a Saturday, course is busy, and no beverage cart beyond 3pm....you have to be kidding! This is the busiest golf day of the week! It’s no wonder this course is struggling. Wake -up and run it like a business and you would make money! Also horrible pace of play. 5 1/2 hours to play a round...No Marshall’s at all! We have people who never played golf learning on a course on a Saturday...go to the driving range or par3. You don’t learn on a traditional course...6 strokes just to get off the tee box....really?
Good value course
Good course, and very playable. Some fairways had muddy/standing water, and greens needing repair- some back 9 greens have bare spots which are impossible to putt through. Exiting cart path onto fairway is very bumpy/muddy and need to be cleaned up. Practice facilities are in good condition. Roughs are cut well- greens are extremely soft.
Will be playing again soon.
Could be marked better
The course was in decent shape, but playing there for the first time is confusing because the course is not marked very well.
Solid Value
Not bad for the price. Fairways were in good shape for the most part, but a handful of greens could really use some work. But this is one of the (slightly) cheaper courses in the area so you get what you pay for I guess. Drove out from Denver to check it out. Might come back. I did love the grass range, good sized putting green and a great chipping area. Grass ranges are hard to find near me. Wished I lived closer just for the practice areas.
Good day, really nice to have onsite dining
We play Spring Valley to get a fun round in at a course with a relaxing setting and a chance to see some wildlife. We were not disappointed. The range was open, nice. The check-in was seamless. We played as 4 walkers, since the course is quite walkable if you like to walk. The conditions were pretty good, although some of the greens seem to be a bit irregular, but it wasn't bad enough to keep my wife from going birdie-birdie on 2 #6 & 7. One buddy had never played before and remarked how nice a course it was. There were hawks, frogs, a muscrat swimming in a creek, big carp, and other birds. We were surprised and delighted to be able to enjoy a tasty meal onsite on the patio afterwards with a cold beverage or two to cap off a really nice day out during this COVID-19 thing. Kudos to the staff!!
Could be great
This course has always been great to me. I played a lot this winter and spring, and the people have always been fantastic. It always felt like it just needed to green up a little bit to be really fantastic. Played today for my first time here in two months and it is in worse condition than it was in February. Greens and tee boxes were horrendous. Fairways were decent, but really had a lot of work. Not to mention everytime I play here the pace of play is not great
Great Time!
This was my second time playing Spring Valley and enjoyed it as much as my first round just last week. The course is in great shape and is playable for everyone, from beginner to low handicappers. The clubhouse and bar have a country club feel without be pretentious and the staff are amazing (HUGE shoutout to Mitchell in the pro shop for guiding me in when my GPS went haywire!). Also, if you are like me and appreciate an adult beverage after a rough double bogey, their beverage cart seemed to be available every other hole! Despite the inconvenient drive from Denver, I will 100% be returning to Spring Valley very soon!
Nice layout but needs to green up
We played nine holes a few weeks ago and were hoping it would have grown in better than what it has. There are still brown areas on the fairways and worse, some greens. Staff was great as always. They could have used a ranger on the course, the group in front of us was very slow. Our round took 4:45. Seemed longer after our last two rounds elsewhere were right at 4:00. They are giving out carts as they are available so if you don't have the option when booking, just call the course near your tee time and see what they have. Practice range is open.
It should not take 5 and half hours to play a round of golf!!! All we were told is that a group of older walkers is what is holding things up are you serious... manage the course better saw the marshal once.
Still a lot of winter damage
The course is starting to green up, but there is a lot of winter damage on the greens. Pretty disappointing they're charging full rates when the course isn't quite up to 'par'.
With the COVID-19 concerns, I'm grateful to play again and them allowing carts is a nice option.
I do wish the marshal that was patrolling the course would pay attention to slow play and not just social distancing. They need to understand when there are 3 groups on a Par-3 that people will congregate closer than they should. Always helpful and friendly staff in the pro shop and the bar's 'to go' area!! Pleasantly surprised to have a very attentive cart-person offering refreshments while wearing a mask!
Great course!!!!
Fun layout and good pace of play. A few of the greens need sometime to heal, but still pretty good conditions.
