Gone seriously downhill
A beautiful course up to last year...played it quite a few times over last 10 years. Something has gone seriously wrong. We booked a tee time and arrived to find the fairways were parched dry and in horrible condition. There were very few cars in the parking lot. We questioned the attendant who was very polite. It seems there is a water problem of some sort. Whatever the issue is it needs to be fixed or this course will not be in business next season. We turned around and drove away without playing. Very disappointing!
Awful..... Do not go
Tee tee box, fairway, green condition are awful. Totally different then what I played there last year. Do not know what is going on. Do not waste your money to go there.
Tough Times at the Point
If the course architect could see what has happened to what was once a beautiful course, he would pull his name from the marquee for sure. This one really shook me - I'm sure the staff would love to take pride in it, but it must be hard to go to work there every day. You cannot enjoy this course at any price. Hopefully someone can invest and resurrect it, but I won't play here again.
lack of watering caused grass to be burt out
until problem above is solved recommend not playing in summer months
Lack of Course Maintenance!
Not long ago one of my favorite courses in the area.Today the course is in very poor condition. Fairways are not playable, dry cracked and many patches no grass at all. Greens are sand based and a little better. Can stop your approach shots but the green surfaces are not in playable condition.
The course design is very good and the scenery very nice.Much better alternative courses nearby.
Like the course, but needs some attention
I really like this course, super interesting and very scenic. Early in the season, so the tee boxes and greens could do with some care.
Still better than most
The layout is excellent, hadn't changed. The fairways are in fair shape due to a lack of grass. The greens are still pretty good considering the tough times for this course. The people who work there are very good people, it is nice to see them whenever I can get there. There is a lack of players which is good from a tee time point of view but from a funding point of view it's not good. Still my favourite course in all the Lower Mainland
Hidden Gem
The course layout is great, in a beautiful location.
The playing surface needs some work, but that doesn't detract from the challenge of the course.
You will loose some balls here, but you will probably find a few on your round.
Wispy fair way drags the value of the course
I cannot find any fault with the course except partly wispy or sparse lawn on some fair ways probably caused by rare drought this summer. Otherwise perfect.
terrific layout
I can understand the negative reviews because if you haven't .played here before or don't understand the situation you will find the conditions patchy at best...although the greens seem to be better than they were last year.
If you are returning it's probably because, like me, you really like the layout and because the fairways hold up reasonably well to wet weather. Still a real bargain if you use golfnow.
not it good condition
I have been trying to get out to Point Bob for many years but apparently I should have come earlier as the course is now in a sad state. I played with a friend who had played there many times in the past and he was very disheartened to see the conditions we faced. firstly there was very little if any grass on many of the fairways, the greens had been watered but some had large chunks of grass out of them. The layout was great and I am sure that in its day it would have been awesome, but not anymore. hopefully someone can come in there and turn this place around.
Nice course
Nice course but still suffering from the dry summer. Hard pan fairways but greens will hold the ball
Great Day on the Course
My husband and I had a great round at Point Roberts. The course fairways are in rough shape due to water restrictions throughout the region but the greens were in great shape. The course was relatively quiet so we were able to play non-stop for the entire round, finishing in less than 4 hours. The temperature was perfect with a light breeze off the water. Small problem with mosquitos around holes 8&9 but otherwise a great day.
Its been a while
Hadn't played Pt Roberts for a few years but could pass up the deal on GolfNow. Course was near empty early morning so lots of time to play/practice. They let the fairways dry out so lots of run but the greens and aprons were good (but they could have rolled or cut the greens but didn't that day) and tees were OK, some pretty sparse and rough. Overall quite good and very playable.
Enjoyable walk with great potential!
Beautiful course with lots of potential. Good range of challenge and a beautiful setting.
Excellent value!
It was a great course for a value and challenge. We enjoyed it immensely. Great for intermediate golfers!
Great course really dry right now. Recommend early or late season play.
Hard to rate the course play because my play was the issue not the course.I played terrible.
Greens are in great condition. Fairway close to the greens soft and great condition.
Most of fairway tee to just short of the greens is dry and patchy. Hard to make clean contact. Can't control roll out so good shots can end up in trouble.
With a little water on the fairways would be an amazing course.
It could be a good course.
Way over priced for the condition. They have water problems. Fairways are brown and rock hard, the greens are soft, very slow and very bumpy. They only have enough water for the greens I guess. They can't control the weather to fill their irrigation ponds but they can control their prices. We paid $120 US for two. It would be fair to say it was worth half that.
Incredible for the price paid
Well I had a great first experience at the Point Bob course, granted I paid a ridiculously cheap price which helped. Some of the fairways were starting to go brown and with it being such a hot summer, I can imagine this course looking rough in July. But challenging holes with tough bunker/water hazards made the round a great round. I am really excited to come back and play this course again but not too sure if I would play it with a regular green fee.
Another Eagle at Point Roberts!
It had been a while since playing here. It was great to get back as he course is fun and challenging. Once again an eagle dropped down on my ball in the fairway and left it for me to hit it again once I got up to him. This time he flew onto the green and waited for my next shot and stood ontop of my ball again!!! This was the third time at Point Roberts on that same hole that an eagle has tried to take my ball. It will surely be the only type of eagle that I shall ever be able to claim on a course!
