About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Sad to see the continued downturn
Had not played Ridgeview for about 9 months due to prior poor conditions. Basically, the greens are unplayable. Every putt on every green is bounced offline by Poa Annua that has taken root throughout the Bermuda surfaces. You cannot get a decent roll. The condition of the rest of the course is below average for this time of year, with many bare spots, drainage issues and weeds throughout. CBIGG (the owners) continue to avoid investing in basic agronomy maintenance it appears. I have played this great public layout for close to 30 years and it has never been in worse condition. A sad commentary on where public golf is today. But hey, all the new golfers that have come into the game during COVID accept this as tee sheets continue to be close to full and rates continue to rise. If you need a place outside to drink and smoke cigars for 4 hours, I guess you could do worse. If you want a real golf course to play, find somewhere else.

The greens were in bad shape, but it is still early in year. Main disappointment was that we got there early and driving range was closed. Course was extremely hard and no water anywhere. Staff said it was to wet but yet it opened up for there evening scramble.

The Greens
The greens and a few other spots on the course are not growing yet. It is early Spring but some courses do already have grass growth showing up. I love this course and do hope it is in better shape soon.

Avoid course
From tee to green- worse course. Only good thing about this course is bunker.

Lots of trees
If your shanking on your driver or have trouble getting under it with your irons bring lots of balls
Even straight shots run off. Youll have a great round though.

Good Course
I like this course. The only negatives are that the carts are slow and the staff needs to get the greens in better condition. Too many weeds.

course conditions / ammenities
2nd time playing - 1st time was mid-summer last year. There are no water coolers so, be sure you bring your own water for 18 holes. The food in the pro shop was closed this last visit and no cart person driving around. Conditions of course were not as good as anticipated, driving range balls in the middle of the 9th fairway. Not sure if I'll be back, for the value of the money it was good just to get out. The course layout is the only thing that was good.

Greens need help
My putts were bouncing all over the place. Very patchy are rough. I wouldn’t pay full price for this course.

Great for the price/location/pace of play
Women's tee boxes set them up to be in the same area as the men playing from the white tees, which makes it a lot of fun to play! Love the layout! Good value for the money! Pin placements need to be moved. Many holes are so beat up that it effects the roll of the ball. Ground may be too hard to punch new holes but it really needs to be done. Winter conditions are tough but surely the holes can be more clean. Otherwise great place to play!
