Player at Lyman Orchards Golf Club
About
Lyman Orchards is a popular Connecticut destination most known for the nearly 100 varieties of pick-your-own fruit but it also offers two championship 18-hole golf courses and a nine-hole course. One of the longer courses was designed by Gary Player and the other by Robert Trent Jones. Lyman Orchards' Player Course is a seemingly mild 6,600 yards from the tips but don't let the yardage fool you, this layout is a tough but fair test. There are over 30 bunkers strategically placed along the small greens and deciduous trees and beautiful white pines line the fairways. Routed through the orchards across gently rolling hills, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The terrain provides the course with plenty of ups and downs, as well as great views, especially on the 11th and 13th holes.

Three may not be a hard hole when you keep the ball in play, but otherwise it is unsympathetic to missed shots. It’s the #3 index here. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/23/2025

Great January Golf
3 & 1/2 hour round‼️ Greens and fairways were in very good shape! I happened to miss every bunker :)
Thank you for playing! We value your feedback and hope to see you back soon.
Great course on a great day
Was able to get out at 6am and got around the course asa foursome in less than 4 hours. The player course has a little more target golf to it, but think it’s a better test for a real golfer. Certainly have to use most of the clubs in your bag. Course was in great shape.
Thank you for playing and for the 5 star review! We love the Player Course. Hope to see you back soon.
Thank you so much for your review. We value your feedback, and hope to see you back soon. Have a great day!

Thanks for your excellent review. We appreciate your business and hope to see you back again soon.
Target golf at its worst
The only reason I played the Player course was because the Jones course had an outing. The conditions were fine, though the greens were slow. The front nine has too many blind shots and holes you can only play a certain way. The pace of play was terrible (over 5 hours). The cart girl first saw us as we were playing the ninth hole (where there is a half way house) we never saw her again. A player’s assistant asked us about the pace of play when we were playing 17. Too late!!!!
Thank you for playing today and we apologize that we did not do a better job managing the pace of play. Hopefully you will give us another chance to improve upon your experience and maybe next time you can get out on the Jones Course as it appears to be your favored course. Thank you,
A course with a great variety of holes.
Players at Lyman has a wide variety of holes to test your skills, consistency, and acumen especially when it comes to where to place a shot, which club to use, and how much risk to take on holes with blind corners or greens you cannot see..
Thank you for playing, we are glad you enjoyed it! The Jones Course and Apple Nine are great compliments to the Player course because they are so different!
Thank you for your review. We take customer feedback seriously, and are working hard to improve the customer experience. Please let us know if there is a specific service area you were dissatisfied with by emailing info@lymangolf.com. Have a great day!
Target golf
Beautiful course challenging layout shot an 82 from the blues
Thanks for playing! 82 is a great score!
Slow pace redefined
On pace for a 6 1/2 hour round when we quit at the 5 hour mark (we were on hole 13). That would have been the longest round I’d ever played if we’d seen it thru to the finish.
Before round when I explicitly asked about pace of play, starter said “we consistently average around 2 to 2 1/4 hours per 9” and “the rangers keep a close eye on pace and push people along”... huh and huh.
Also always nice to let golfers know when they are booking a tee time that your greens were just aerated... or discount your rates accordingly... neither happened (advanced warning or discount).
Oh yeah... and no junior rate...
Disappointing all around Lyman Orchards.
Thank you for coming out to play. We apologize that our pace of play was so poor. We hope that you will come back and give us another try.
A once great course has bottomed out
Been playing this course since it opened. It has absolutely bottomed out . Cart paths caving in, bare patches, rocks everywhere. Sand traps are laughably bad. The best part, however, is the rough. There should be a sign posted " This course is for highly skilled golfers only". If you are one foot into the rough, good luck finding your ball. Deep, thick and relentless. Not set up for the weekend golfer.
Sad to see a once perfectly manicured course in this kind of shape.
Thank you for playing. We're surprised to hear about the bunkers because over the off-season, we rebuilt all of our bunkers on the Player Course and the feedback has been positive. The cart paths were improved in the fall as well with more work being done in the next several weeks. Still more work to do though. We hope to see you back soon.
We appreciate your feedback and want to thank you for your review! Come back and visit us again soon.
Thank you for your review! We hope to see you again sometime soon.
Thanks for your review. Hope to see you again soon!
Good day
Had a great day on the course today!!
Need to repainr the cart paths ASAP. (Ouch)
Thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon!
Unusual layout great challenge
If you aren’t striking it pure it will be a long day.
Thanks for your review. Hope to see you again soon!
Considering all the rain...
The course was soggy, bunkers were eroded and some standing water on the back 9 made it more of a challenge than normal. That said, the weather was great and it will help dry out the course. Pace of play was slower than normal given conditions. Staff was friendly and helpful as they usually are. So not the best round given the wet weather lately but certainly playable.
Fantastic Layout
I live over an hour away from this course, but play it 2-3 times per year. It is a fantastic layout and a great value. Cheaper, but in my opinion much better than the Jones course. The course design makes you carefully place shots and think about where you want to hit your next one from. All in all, Lyman Player Course is a must-play for fall golf.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
