This course rates among one of my favorites
The golf course was in excellent condition and had an assortment of player friendly holes as well as an equal amount of holes where familiarity and a yardage book played a vital role in scoring well. The fairways were in excellent condition for this time of the year and the greens held and were quite quick. Of the bunkers which were not marked as GUR were consistent. The putting was a true example of the quickness of the green on the course.
Wish it wasn't so far from Richmond
Challenging but fair (white tees). Great views all over the course. Greens & Tres are in great shape. Some of the fairways need some work. I will return
Greens in good shape - challenging course
Greens were in really good shape, especially considering the challenging weather we've had this summer. Fairways had some poor spots, but seemed to be in line with other courses in the Richmond area. Course was a lot more challenging than I remembered from 5 years ago. Lost two balls in the rough that I saw go in. Course does not open until 7:30, so if you have the first tee time like we did, don't get there too early.
Value price conditions lacking
I have played this course several times in the past years. The fairways were always wet. Today they were ok but alot of bare/dead spots. Also different types of grass in them. The greens were in great condition. We got a Hot Deal so can't complain a lot. If you are looking to play an 18 hole course that can be challenging but at a great deal then play the Manor. Plays better when it is drier.
Surprising find!
Great course, it was wet from several inches of rain the night before but still played well. Course was in amazing shape from tee to green. Nice layout you will need to play this course a few times because of all the blind shots. Not a bombers paradise, you will have to make some shots and play a strategic round. It makes you think which I loved. Wish it was closer, but will be back!
A better player's Golf Course
I really enjoyed playing this course. It was in great shape and the layout will challenge your game. Low handicap players will surely add The Manors to their list of favorite Virginia golf courses. It is one of my favorite already!
Disappointing
Unplayable bunkers for the most part. Chopped up, patchy collars and chewed up greens. Manager of the club house is rude and unfriendly. If you live in Farmville it's best in town if you don't want to make a 30+ minutes. Definite not worth making a drive to Farmville to play.

Great course
Great play...wait to go again
Thank you for your 5 star review! We look forward to having you back on the course for another round.
Great day to play
I played early in the season and the rough was very short. The course played easily once you learn where the hazards are hidden. The greens had recently be redone, so they were slow but not too bad.
I liked the course and would come here often but it's a 1 1/2 hr drive so maybe twice a year will suffice
Thanks for the review! The course will only get better as we head into season. Thanks for taking a drive out to see us! Hope to see you again soon!
Magnificent Layout
Beautiful sprawling layout with ample challenges throughout the round. Couple of blind shots and 17 great holes, 1 that's so-so. Conditions decent but not great. Greens had been aerified recently but still rolled OK. Could be a destination spot if conditions were pristine.

Thanks for your review and feedback!
Nice Experience & Would Return Again
My wife and I played with a GolfNow Hot Time Deal, at a great price. Our first time there. Staff were very cordial, place inside their small Proshop and outside on the course/grounds was very clean. The course is in GREAT shape, especially for this early time of the season. Greens were nice, and true to read/putt. Rolling hills and a lot of challenges, with some blind spots - where you wonder just what is going on - the shot? Very nice & quiet and scenery/wildlife - you can see for miles - and very tranquil (as long as you're not setting up for that 5th shot out of the sand trap). We both think it was a great deal/experience; we both shot right at 100. This course is very forgiving/kind to women and seniors. Kudos to customer service and keeping the grounds as nicely as they are.
Thanks for the excellent 5 star review! We're so glad the staff and course wowed you! We strive to provide great customer service and hope to see you again soon!
Best fairways you will see
Great courses. Fairways are unreal and green roll great!!
Thanks for the excellent 5 star review!
hidden gem
this course is sitting on a subtle rolling terrain, a gorgeous 300 plus acres of land. if not for the green that was aerated 5 days ago, i would of rated this course a 5 star.
Thanks for the review! We hope to see you again!
If You Are Up For A Challenge!
Only play this course if you are an experienced golfer. Many holes have creeks and trenches to shoot over. Rolling hills make for many blind shots. Six tee options do allow you to choose your difficulty of play. Very challenging but fun!
Thanks for your review and great tips for future golfers!
A Delightful Surprise
A genuine original, greens are miniature versions of the surrounding topography. Most holes dogleg, so distance means nothing and angle into the pin is everything. The routing changes direction on every hole to pose different wind conditions. Today's generation of big hitters find it hard to conquer this little old course. I found it hard to stay on its canted fairways edged by creeks, hodge-podge rough and couldn't consistently hit its canted greens edged by bunkers that stare back. It's a glorious collection of holes on a breathtaking site. They were able to create a course that a golfer of almost any caliber would love to play everyday, you can't find a better value in golf on the East Coast.
Thanks for the excellent review! We hope to see you again soon!
Excellent course
Love this course, love the all bent grass course and the tough layout it presents for even the most skilled golfer.
Thank you tarheels2208 for reviewing our course. We're thrilled that you had a great experience with us, and we look forward to seeing you back here again!
course is very hilly
great course to play. we played course in first week of October and was in great shape. course has a lot of blind tee shots. it is a great course for all skill levels. we will play again in the near future
Hidden 100% bent grass gem!
The summer has not been kind to the tee boxes. That being said, the fairways & greens are in great shape. Greens roll true and an overall fair track from the proper tees. Best finishing hole in Central VA! Got a $19 deal on GN, I would happily pay $39 rack rate even with so so tee boxes. This course is now on my rotation.
have a good time with great views.lots of wild-life
the course was very scenic and very well thought out.it has some of the best chipping areas around the greens if you just so happen to miss 1or 2 or maybe 3 in a round.all the staff is very friendly and would be glad to assist you in any way.i is one of the best courses virgina . its a must play if you are in the area or passing through.
Excellent value & Challenge for the Money!!!!
The Manor is one of my favorite golf courses. It plays just over 7200 yards from the tips & has a rating of 75/144. The layout is fantastic. Every hole has something that makes it a pleasure to play. Play the course as designed, you will have a good round. I played from the back tees so my observation is from there.
As for the course conditions, I felt they were as follows:
Tee Boxes: Good shape, plenty of grass well maintained
Fairways: good shape, a little long but necessary due to weather conditions. They are wide enough to accept shots from golfers of all abilities.
Rough: plenty of grass and fairly consistent. Penalizing but not overly penalizing. The rough around the greens is consistent and you can get to your ball in order to get up and down to save a score.
Bunkers: There was heavy rain before I played and considering the hilly terrain, some of the bunkers were washed out. That is expected after heavy storms at any golf course. I didn't see any puddled water in the bunkers so drainage must be good. Two maintenance workers were repairing the bunkers when I played and they were friendly as they let me play through. I was only in one greenside bunker on the 10th hole & the sand was consistent & easy to get up and down from.
Greens: I dare you to find better greens then the ones at the Manor. They are fast, true, & fun to putt. They break out of the house. Holes 3 & 5 especially. Stay below the hole if you want a chance to make a putt.
STAFF: on word FRIENDLY! Not a bad attitude in the place. The guys cutting grass, rolling the greens, raking the bunkers went out of the way to make me enjoy my round. Doug in the pro shop is a class act and also was easy to deal with. He goes beyond the call of duty to make your round at The Manor an enjoyable one.
Thanks for the five star review! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our course conditions and layout. We hope to see you back again soon for your next round.
