This course has some scenic views.
I did read some reviews about the clubhouse staff being rude. I would like to say that was not the case for me. The staff was awesome and explained everything to me before the round. I’ve played most of the courses around Dallas. I would say this course reminds me of the country courses on the far outskirts around DFW. It was small greens, short holes, and easy layout. It was perfect for a nice round. I mostly tee off with two iron and had wedge in hand for the approach shots. The greens were in great shape, the fairways were nice, and I had a few awesome views!
Almost great!
The course was a fun play. The tree lined fairway often made the fairways being reached a true challenge. We were bummed that the driving range was closed and were informed was never coming back as this was a selling feature of the course. We would play it again!
Great play for the money
Had a great time. Course is well kept. Green in excellent condition. 85% of fairways were excellent but others had a little too much weeds. Even though the fairways were cut nicely, the weedy parts were disappointing. I would highly recommend this course.
Good course
Good course for the price and friendly staff. Lined with housing so accuracy is important.
I love Holiday Island
Holiday Island is a somewhat challenging course with tree lined fairways. Irons off of the teebox is probably your best choice. Scenic, great greens.
Lost in the Fairway, Bring Extra Balls
Overall, the course was fun and in good shape. The biggest issue is that you need to bring plenty of balls. Hit directly in the middle of the fairway and you may never find your ball again. I have no idea where they went. Part of it could be the steep slopes on some holes, or the ball hits something over the hill that you can’t see or some magical creature simply takes the ball from sight. I lost several balls right in the middle of the fairways and even more from having no idea where they went over the hills. Use the balls that you would normally use for water since they will most likely disappear as easy as hitting in the middle of a lake. Greens were in great shape, the sand bunkers were hard and not much sand making them easy to get out of or the ball would simply bounce out.
I would play this course again as it was fun and the neighborhood around it was really well kept. My apologies to the few owners that were on the bad end of a bad shot. The staff were very nice and helpful and they have an EXCELLENT breakfast menu. Delish!
Good course near Eureka Springs
Enjoyed two rounds at Holiday Island.
Fairways had some bare spots. Some rough was ball deep clover. Greens nice. Layout fun except for a few holes where faiway slope fed ball into trouble. GolfNow can sometimes beat non-resident rate. Would play again.
Close to Eureka Springs
Nice course. Good layout. Greens nice. Some sloped fairways can cause good shots to roll into ball deep clover rough or trees. Non resident rate is higher than Golfnow (check it beforehand). Fun to play if in the area.
Arkansas Getaway
Course was nice. Rain prior had it a bit soupy in places but that was to be expected. All good. Good time
WI golfers
First impressions were great. Met the pro who was extremely friendly and helpful. Could have talked to him much longer.
The course layout is very nice. Many mature trees and elevated greens. Not a long course but trees require some accurate tee shots.
The fareways are a disaster. Many bare spots and weeds. Greens are fine and mostly level.
There are at least 3 holes that have blind tee shots. You can't tell where the group ahead of you is at. A signal bell on these holes would let golfers know when it is safe to tee off. Some courses also have parascopes to help see over hills.
The front 9 played in under 2 hours which was OK. My wife and I usually play 18 holes in 3 1/2 to 4 hours. The back 9 however was terribly slow. We caught up to a group of 3 who were not only bad golfers but walked extremely slow back and forth to their carts. Since it was cart path only, they took forever to play each hole. Since they were all playing the shortest tees, we could never catch them on a tee box to pass them. Since they had no golf edequate, they never waited or offered to let us play through. There was no one within several holes ahead of them. On the 18th hole they sat in their carts next to the green and talked for 10 minutes before moving on. No course staff was monitoring pace of play. The back nine took nearly 3 hours but felt muchlonger.
