Too Many Beginners Playing
I booked as a single and was paired with another twosome. Nice guys, but the younger one was brand new to the sport and should have gone to the driving range instead of playing on a real golf course. His partner was better but was still not very good. The foursome in front of us had a Dad and his two teenagers that were hitting the ball all over the place. Mid-week and the pace was abysmal. Third time playing the course and it will definitely be my last time. It is a shame because it is relatively close by and relatively inexpensive.
It irks me that it is one of the 3 nearby courses in Delaware that do NOT accept any of the Golf Now Discounts on Hot Deals be it the weekly percentage off codes nor the Reward Promo Codes.
The Pro Shop guy was extremely friendly and professional.
Good relaxing course
Ed Oliver is a good course overall. Pretty straight forward with not a lot of elevation changes per hole, but it’s a fun relaxing course to play that won’t frustrate you if you’re having a less than stellar round.
Great value
I d played here before, I really enjoy it. Nice conditions very nice greens. Some spots are narrow, but it’s very nice.
Left wanting more
I play this course a few times a year. For having a very seasonable Fall. The course conditions weren't the best. As always, the greens were in great shape, which they usually are. The fairways were decent and the tee boxes were just OK. A lot of brown patches and dirt areas on tee boxes. I've always liked this course and the layout. Hoping it gets to heal through the spring time.
Left early
Pace was extremely slow on a weekday around 1:35pm start. First time playing there, could not see any Marshall to keep pace. Got frustrated and left with 4 holes to play. The course is in good condition tho.
Sand Traps???
All Bunkers need to be fixed. How the course management don’t see that there’re more gravel than sand in the bunker!!!
Poor conditions
This course needs a lot of work. Paid $47 for 18 which nowadays is cheap. However, 50% of the time the ball was unhittable from its lay. Greens were sanded (it’s October!) and the fairways were punched (fairways!!). C’mon man!
Staff are really nice and layout isn’t bad. Good potential just needs better maintenance.
All season player
As an all season player, I can tell you this course needs more work than a little bit. The bunkers are never taken care of their hard as rocks. Also not all the bunkers have sand in them some are just ground up clay or dirt or something. The greens are in pretty good shape most of the year the fairways that’s a different story crabgrass everywhere grab grass on the Teebox if there is grass on the Teebox. Teeboxs also uneven . Like I said, the course needs help they are slowly, but surely putting work into the course it’s just not happening a quick rate. I play there all the time, and yet I tend to be disappointed time and time again. In my opinion, golf is hard enough already without all of these other variables on this course to hinder your game.
Well worth the price
Had an earlier tee time on a Saturday. We were able to speed through the round with almost no hold ups. Greens and fairways were in good shape especially considering the dry few weeks we’ve had.
