EagleVail Golf Club
About
What's the best way to describe EagleVail Golf Club? A river golf course? A mountain golf course? Actually, it's a little bit of both. It's also a pretty golf course ... and pretty tough. The 18-hole Bruce Devlin and Roger von Hagge design, which opened in 1974, isn't a long golf course by today's standards, but there isn't a lot of room for error. The only true mountain design for a public golf course in the Vail Valley places a high priority on shot placement, and you should as well if you want to have a good score. The tee shot at the par-5 first hole is elevated about 75 feet, there's the red barn at No. 2 (part of the area's agricultural heritage) and there are plenty of elevation changes and breathtaking views as you make your way around. But no matter what you call EagleVail Golf Club, chances are you'll be calling for another tee time once you've played there.

Eagle Vail's a Good Track
EV is a wonderful layout through the valley and up into the canyons. The greens and fairways were in pretty good condition for a mountain course in June. Pace of play was really slow and there was no ranger moving the slower players along. They need to manage the pace of play better or I won't return.
Gorgeous Rocky Mountain Golf
Very friendly and professional staff. Nice new golf carts with GPS (however they go wayyy too slow on a couple of the hills due to the safety governors). Small but nice pro shop. Beautiful first tee shot with magnificent view of the valley. Pace of play was excellent on a Monday morning. Tees, fairways, and greens were all lush and excellently manicured. Greens were firm and fast, but fair. 1st cut of rough was pretty tall; 2nd cut was a guaranteed lost ball. You don’t need driver on every hole here! Straight was better than long all day. Tons of elevation change and some really interesting, fun holes. Only a couple of wonky holes, which were still beautiful and challenging. Awesome bunkers. Overall, for the money, Eagle Vail is going to be pretty tough to beat in the Vail/BC area. Highly recommend.
Some cool holes and some not so cool...
Better bring your "A" game here. There are at least six holes that will kill you otherwise. (Like #16) Some holes were really fun to play, featuring long drops from elevation. Other holes just beat you up. Long, narrow fairways with lots of potential trouble. Tough pin placements and some greens with a lot of winter kill. Can't say I walked away wanting to ever play this course again.
Great layout!
This is one of the funnest courses I’ve ever played. We enjoyed spectacular scenery, dramatic elevation changes, and some very challenging holes. The course was in very good shape for this time of year.
Best I've seen in Vail/BC
Exciting layout. Lots of ups and downs, which I enjoy. Similar to Keystone River with the forced carries and good views along the river/into the high country. This course's best quality is it feels like a other high end resorts at a much lower price. I wouldn't make a habit of playing here for the standard rate, but at $55 with a cart it was a great call.
Not the Best
The course was well maintained for late summer play. Greens were fast and smooth. They were also hard and many ran away down the hills, so stopping the ball on the green meant bouncing it on at times. Overall, we did not care for the course design. Due to the limitations of the mountain landscape, we played some holes that were, well "unusual". The staff was fairly young and not well trained and the club house facilities were on the lean side. You have to leave your things in your cart as carts are not allowed down to the driving range. They have a shuttle for that. It is a busy place and you will not be able to see you valuables, so we'd recommend that you don't leave them in the cart. We will look for other places to play when we return to the area.
Great course, in very good condition
We very much enjoyed our round... Phenomenal elevation changes with outstanding and different views on every hole... You should make time to play this course at least once... You'll be back to play it again!!!
Beautiful and challenging
This course has to be in my top five. The first 8 holes are pretty normal for a course in located in the mountains. A few elevation changes, streams, trees etc. The last 10 holes are well laid out with many beautiful views, extreme elevation changes, forced carries and just a whole lot of fun. The course conditions were excellent and almost all the greens and something to make your knees knock. We saw Marmot and deer while playing
Great Course, Great Value
Eagle Vail is the best bang for the buck in the Vail Valley.
Great Course
Eagle Vail is a great course.
ALOT of elevation change makes it fun and very challenging. Can't wait to play it again.
Great course
Course was in great condition, incredible views, great staff. A must go to course.
Must Play
Eagle Vail is a great golf course from tee to green. Some of the most unique holes I have ever played and tons of elevation change. This is one of my favorite mountain courses and even at $100 I'd recommend playing. Occasionally a little slow on weekends but just enjoy the round.
Beautiful Setting
This is a beautiful course. Unfortunately, we didn't know that 8 holes were closed and the 10 that were open had recently been aerated from tee to green. I'd like to play it when all holes are open and not aerated
Fun course with a lot of challenging holes
Fun course with Hugh elevations from tee to green.. Course is in really great condition..
Midwest golfer
Did excellent job of matching us with another couple making for a very enjoyable afternoon of golf, while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
Good, but a little tricked up
Good public course, reasonably priced. 4 stars above, but really I would say 3 1/2. Played twice in a 2 week period. I live (and play) in a hilly area, so the elevation changes weren't an issue. Course was in good condition, and has some very pretty views. Problem is that a few of the holes are needlessly tricked up (like number 9), and some of the greens have silly slopes (like number 17). That said, had a good time. My wife, who is a beginner, enjoyed it.
