Actually saw hot-air balloons overhead as in the profile photo (annual festival Labor Day weekend).
Probably the fastest greens I've ever played at a muni, and they were in flawless condition. Really impressed given how much play the course gets. The old-school push-up greens have a lot of back-to-front slopes, so keeping the ball below the hole was key. Playing partners had played earlier in the week and said the greens were not nearly as fast then.
I hadn't played Valley Hi in maybe 8 years and the course had made some upgrades, including some new hazards, perhaps to improve drainage. The course had fewer bare spots than I recall and was in good condition, especially on the front.. Pace was fine--2 hours for the front and 3:45 overall. Layout offers more variety than you get on a lot of munis. The par-5s are easy; the par-3s are challenging. Be ready to play from the sand--traps are well placed close to greens.
Paid $38 + $15 to ride, which seemed a shade high but holiday weekend rate, I guess. Putting green was in great condition, and the course has a nice chipping/sand practice area. Range had nice grass tees but is otherwise ugly, intended for easy ball pickup. Facilities aren't why you play Valley Hi; didn't eat at the restaurant, which was recently reopened following Covid shut-down. Cart fare was priced reasonably.
Staff was friendly and committed to efficiency. Enjoyed the round.
Great Municipal
I love playing Valley Hi. New carts last year, along with new management at the grill. The course is well maintained and has a different feel front 9 from back 9. Staff is very friendly.
Fun, affordable course
Pace of play was very good, the course layout is enjoyable, and through Golfnow the tee time was extremely affordable. Excellent view of the mountains on certain holes. A very good course.
Poor Management
Came early and the guy behind the counter told me to come back 10 minutes to my tee time. Every hole we had to wait. Starter needs training and so does the Marshall.
Nice Condition
This is an ok course for a day of golf. But it does not offer a thing special and for the money I have played much better. It was in nice condition but if you are looking for CO. beauty this is really not the course. Would not want to play again unless it was really a Lot less than other courses. All the buildings were run down and just had a run down feel.
Terrible maintenance!
Course was in good condition as far as fairways and greens, however potholes and totally rough cart path conditions. All shrubbery and etc. was totally overgrown and unkempt. Guess overall it was okay but not properly managed!!
Random good golf buddies
First time to hit the links. Just played 9 holes. Driving range was not the best I have ever seen. Though the first 9 that I did play on this course were well maintained. Great view of the mountains. Thought the course, overall, was well maintained. Very friendly locals and staff. Snack bar not quite up to "par". Good selection of spirits and beers. Grill should be a tad bigger. Very nice lady there. Facilities were very nice.
Valley Hi Offers Good Features and Variety
We enjoyed the staff's friendliness, the course layout, and especially the good greens conditions. Well maintained course offers a solid challenge for the weekend golfer.
Great course
Best course conditions I have seen in a long time. I live in south Texas. Our fairways and greens are not as plush as this course. Greens putted true and I never got a bad lie in any fairway. A really fun course to play. Greens were still challenging. The rough around the greens is sticky and did cause a few of my shots around the green to come up short. If I lived in the area this would be where I would play the most. Paid full price the first round and got a hot deal for the second round.
Great day at Valley Hi
The course has significantly improved this past month. The greens and fairways are almost at summer condition.. I will be back again, soon.
Valley hi
Good course to play at, pace of play is nowhere near as bad as patty jewitt. Course is pretty fun, not in the best area of town but you're on the course so it's okay. Golf carts seem to stall regularly. Overall I'm just out to play golf and have a good time, and I'll continue to come back.
course was good for winter
had good time and people were freindly
Course coditions
Course is maybe a $20 course with cart. Unkept, goose droppings everywhere... Outdated golf carts, search for one without a broken windshield, step on the pedal hoping thing will go. One good thing though, greens in pretty good shape.
Diamond in the ruff
The course was in great shape, lush green fairways with an impressive cut. The greens, which had not been winterized, were slightly firm and fast, which is ideal. This late in October with snow on the peak...Amazing!!!
Good course for all abilities
Played this course while on holiday from Scotland and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Greens were quite fast, fairways and bunkers in good condition.Play a little bit slow. A pity that more players do not repair pitch marks. Highly recommend the course. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Golf Gem in the Colorado Rockies
This course is a nice challenge at a reasonable price. Saw the course Marshall all day. Pace was under 4 hours. Great playing conditions with perfect greens. Visiting from Virginia and enjoyed playing here. Will play it again next time I visit Colorado Springs.
Staff seems to have a bad attitude
Second time I've booked at this course through Golf Now. Staff is unfriendly and makes comments about Golf Now that make customer feel unappreciated for using Golf Now. It is apparent that "locals" are tested better than "guests" based on interaction with staff
Great in places poor in others
The course was really great and the views were excellent. There were some areas where the grass was not quite great the ground looked under repair and this was in the fairway but this is just some holes. Others look like what you would expect at a great course. It's difficult to find good course conditions in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas for some reason but this was one of the better.
Great Golf Day!
Had a great day playing golf, course was in great shape. Pace of play was very good. Overall great experience.
Extremely slow play
Course is normally in good condition. It was always managed well in the past due to the Pro, Mike Northern. He is no longer there. The pace of play can be extremely slow due to the fact the new management has decided to let people play " Foot Golf" ....a horrendously bad idea! This is kicking a soccer ball around the course. They will close off the front nine for this from time to time and they will stack up the back nine if you made the mistake of going out there during a "Foot Golf" session. They will not Marshall slow play so you could be in for a long day. 2 1/2 to 3 hours for 9 holes. I experienced this on a week day during the middle of the day. I have been playing this course for 30 years and this the first time I would recommend going elsewhere.
