Ranked the 13th Best Golf Course You Can Play in Hawaii by Golfweek Magazine in 2009, Puakea is a one of Hawaii's best kept golf secrets. Designed by Robin Nelson, Puakea is a fun golf experience for the recreational golfer while still a challenge for the better player when played from the back tees. Located in Lihue across from the Kukui Grove Shopping Center, Puakea is easy to get to no matter where you are staying on Kauai. With its fully stocked pro shop, large grass driving range and practice bunkers and practice green Puakea is a great place to spend the day working on your game. Be sure to visit the Grille for a burger, salad, sandwich or cold beer.

Beautiful course
Great course in great shape. Pace of play was great also.
Water
Overall a good experience. Very disappointing that there is no drinking water available on the course. Also no restrooms on the back. I realize there is construction going on but they should at least have a temporary restroom available. Pro shop staff was friendly but lacked knowledge. No starter makes things more complicated than they need to be.
Nice Course
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Range balls are included with your round. Course is nicely laid out and has several hazards.

Welcoming neighborhood course
An extremely well cared for course. The staff is great, the carts brand new, course in great condition. The front is a pretty simple format. The back nine have some fun and challenging holes. I’m glad we played before a 2 pm flight back to the mainland

Fun with occasional challenges
From the very welcoming of the pro shop and golf cart attendant to a relaxed pace of play, it was a great round. A few adventurous holes sprinkled in made the round fun and challenging. It is worth a visit.
Great golf experience
This course was fun to play. Staff was helpful. Food at the restaurant was excellent. Be sure to dress appropriately if you were playing golf. They are extremely strict on their dress coat. They also are fairly strict on their playing time.. Golfers are expected to complete around in no more than four hours and 10 minutes.. I highly recommend this course.
Very Nice
Very nice course. Well kept greens are hard, shots onto the green did not hold very well with rented clubs. Very nice course layout and enjoyable. Be sure to dress appropriately as they do police their dress code. People are friendly, and the food at the restaurant is exceptional.
Course is lacking in maintenance. Weeds are growing in a lot of the traps. The local players don’t even play out of traps. They consider it ground under repair.
