Getting better
The course was in much better shape than I was expecting based on the other reviews. Most of the bunkers are not in good shape but you can tell they are working on that with a few of them featuring brand new sand. Greens and fairways were in good shape, the layout is a good challenge and I will definitely return.
Lots of work being done
Sand slowly being added to barren bunkers. New pavement in many spots. New carts. Many machines clearing out brush and trees. Really rooting for them to make this course great again.

The layout is challenging. The greens are super soft & furry. The course itself looks pretty beaten up. With some $$$ spent to bring the course back it could be a great great track.

Continue improvement efforts, especially cart paths, no reason this course could be 4 or even 5 stars.

Improved
I have played here three times now. The first two times I wasn’t impressed, I even left a bad review after the second time after a frustrating round. However in the last few months, they have greatly improved the course. The greens, although on the slower side, were in great condition and were constant through all 18 holes. The bunkers have been improved upon greatly as well. They still need work, but are better than before. Some tee boxes need some work as well. Overall, they have done a nice job improving the conditions. If they keep this up, I’ll be playing here more often!

Recent storm(Isaias) reeked havoc!
Back nine was a mess. Front nine grass was high and the cut grass was left piled up w/o cleanup. The crew obviously can’t keep up the upkeep!

Classic course good value
A classic course. Some traps not maintained and rough and fairways are not in great shape, but greens are good, layout is challenging and price is good.

needs work
Some greens okay some not fairways okay tee boxes need help broken tees all over most tees not cleaned bunkers not playable no sand in them

Could be so much more
Great layout, brand new carts, good staff but, unfortunately LV is currently in a “rebuild” mode. A decade of poor management has left this track rough shape. Other than a few, most. bunkers are unplayable; rocks and dirt, rather than sand. Cart path is almost dangerously ragged. Would love to see a private firm buy, this course from the town of Hamden and bring it back to it’s full potential

Once was a beautiful course
This course has such a great layout. It’s so disappointing how bad they let it get. Sand traps haven’t had sand in years, tee boxes beat up, and the greens need to be watered so bad, I honestly think they cover them when it rains. Such a shame how quickly this place went downhill and how it can’t climb out of the hole. It’s the Wild West, you can tee off whenever you feel like it, I’ve seen people not pay and jump in a cart, I’ve seen people not pay and just jump on the back. With that, anyone that’s foolish enough to pay to play there, they stick it.

Laurel View a fine layout
The biggest negative is the cart path quality. Probably the worst I have seen and felt. Bunkers are unsatisfactory and unplayable. The course is interesting and the layout is excellent, of course very hilly, but that adds to the challenge. Sot my age today, which is okay as I am 86 years old next Tuesday.

Save your money
The management at this place is atrocious. No sand in the bunkers (just dirt and rocks), the driving range hasn’t been operational in decades, and it says they offer pass perks, but when I asked the owner about them (he was on his phone while being the only employee in the pro shop), he had no idea what I was talking about. On top of it all, the cart was $25. So the $27 hot deal actually ends up being $52, for a course that is barely being taken care of at all. What a ripoff. The owner is clearly just making a quick buck while people will pay $60 for any golf course right now, instead of investing money back into the course.
