Getting better
I heard through several sources that Laurel View was improving. The sources are correct. The greens are in good shaqe though a little slow for me. Fairways are a little dry sort of like playing in the UK. Rough in spots could use some cutting. The bunkers are still unplayable but my sources tell me they will be redone by next year. Even though there is still no drinking water on the course the grill is open for food and drink. I will be returning to play. Hopefully the improvements will continue .
Course is what you pay for...
Course is average for the area but the cart path all over is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Left with the worst back pain due to the bumpiest ride. Almost couldn’t finish the round. But the course conditions are getting better besides the cart path. New ownership seems nice. Fix the cart path and it’ll be a top notch course in the area.
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Laurel View!
Only bad thing. Sand traps
The fairways and greens are in good shape. The sand traps are not. No sand and plenty of rocks (bolders). Unless you're playing from the red tees the course has no senior tees.
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future. Thanks for choosing Laurel View.

If you’re looking to waste $45 on a state park where there happens to be a golf course than this is the place for you! Not only are no bunkers filled with sand but they have rough as well. The greens roll like a 70’s carpet. Never come here

Very Nice Round
I had a really enjoyable round of golf with my son today. The weather was great. The course is getting better. The pace of play was pretty good. I'll be going back again for sure

Laurel View Improving
Played Laurel View in early May, they were still cleaning up damage from downed trees caused by tornado that ravaged Northern Hamden including Sleeping Giant State Park. as well as thousands of homes. Since that time there are repaired cart paths, greens, tees and parts of fairways were aerated. The new PGA pro Tony was friendly and his assistant, I think they called him RJ, were very helpful. Can't wait to go back again. Cheaper than most of the public courses that I play on and a better challenging layout.
Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing @LaurelViewCountryClub.

Laurel View Making a Comeback
I’ve played Laurel View a few times so far this year. Each time I’ve been up there, there’s been improvements to the course and facilities, but especially the last time I was there after finally a few days without rain. The tee boxes have been cut and cleaned up and aerated. The greens have been rolled and aerated too and are looking way better. A lot of the areas that had been really wet are cut now, so I guess it’s all on me if I lose a ball now. It also looks like the cart path has been patched/paved on parts of every hole.
As for the facilities, I went into the clubhouse area for the first time the other day and it looks like they did a deep clean and organized everything. One of the best improvements is probably that the 19th hole is back open again. I didn’t go in myself, but there was a pretty good number of people in there. Things are definitely heading in the right direction and I’m actually looking forward to going back and seeing what they do next.

Beware of dog!
This isnt so much a review of the course, which I will sum up as "unfortunate." I couldnt inagine what it would cost to get thos course back into the shape I knew it as a kid growing up in Hamden.
But, thats not this. I played and later discovered that I apparently had left a club on the course so a few days later I returned in the hopes that it would be in lost and found. There was no one but a furry dog in the office when I arrived. I called out, no one came out to help me. Then I ledt and strolled the few feet to see if anyone was in the adjacent restaurant. The dog followed me, cornered me and began barking at me in a threatening manner. This dog was not so big as it would do me severe harm, but not so small that I could kick it across the room either. I cautiously escaped the dog and went to my car without my club. I proceeded to call the clubhouse but no one answered.
Serriously, whats with the dog!?
And I never got my club.
Dear Thomas,
We're sorry to hear that you couldn't locate anyone when you came up to the course. Please let us know what club you are looking for and we will do our best to find it. Please call the proshop at 2032810670.
In terms of the dog, he is a service dog and hasn't caused any trouble in the past 12 years. For your inconvenience, we would like to offer you 2 complimentary rounds of golf. Since you played in May, we have made major improvements to the tees, greens, cart paths and overall aesthetics of the course. Call the proshop anytime and ask for Tony.
Thank you,
Tony Roberto

Hello, Thomas. Let us first start by apologizing for your experience after your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. Please contact our management team at (203) 281- 0670 for further assistance. Thank you for playing Laurel View.
What a waste of beautiful real estate.
Over the past few seasons, ever since Sandy, course manager ahs let Laurel View fall into disrepair. First the sand traps went south, now the rest of it. This is reflected in the low rates vs. other public courses in Fairfield County. If the town of Hamden wants to keep the course open, they should hire someone who cares about proper maintenance. If not close the place down #MercyKilling

Cours
The course it self was in fair shape. I’ve played on this course several times over the last few years and it gets worse each and every time. The driving range needs new Mats, some markets for distance and to cut the grass! The cart path was absolutely terrible, needs to be paved. The bunkers are a complete disaster, needs to be fixed. The greens were okay but should be tended too. With how they maintained the course the price is still a little steep. This is nothing but a practice course for beginners. I wouldn’t recommend an avid golfer to attend this course.

New owners
The course Ian under new ownership and they are working hard to get it back in shape. Compared to what it’s been the course is great and looks like they are working hard to keep improving it

Needs work
Course needs a lot of work. Good news is that I have heard that they have a very good new member on the grounds staff .
Also a pricing issue, they do not honor the price shown on golf now site, not happy.

Don't Waste Your Time Or Money!
Laurel View Country Club used to be such a fun and great course to play. I live in town and it was always packed on weekends and well kept. However, things are going terribly down hill. Do not waste your money or time by playing at Laurel View.
I scheduled a tee time through golfnow.com and purchased a Hot Deal for $18/person with cart. I paid in full at the time of purchasing the hot deal. The next day we arrived and checked in the with starter at the desk. He informed us that they just implemented a new policy with Hot Deals and the price is now $23/person. Even though I purchased the advertised price, we needed to give even more money.
The course itself is awful. The fairways look like roughs on most courses. The roughs are really high grass. Not sure how many balls we lost just because of the roughs. The 'sand' traps are just rock filled dirt. There are no water containers for the players to drink from or use to fill up their water bottles. The ball washers are either completely dry or completely missing.
I only gave 5 stars to the pace of play because we were the only ones on the course for the most part. Everything else was a 1 star.
I hope Laurel View comes around, but until it does, don't waste your money or your time. It is not fun at all anymore.

Satisfactory.
A little more maintenance to this course could make a world of difference. Some improvements were made from last year especially on the 11th hole.
Hi! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back! Thanks for choosing Laurel View.
What happened?
I had played here just once and it was a few years ago, but I was still surprised how this course is. I doesn't appear they have done maintenance in months. It was all bad - fairways, greens, and even the tee boxes. The layout is odd and frustrating. I won't be back.

Rough conditions
Laurel View is in sad shape. Today was wet, but the course is in overall bad conditions, bunkers are unplayable. The pro unexpectedly charged me an extra $6.00, seems to have been a ripoff, but some guy is the clubhouse gave me free practice balls,, so a wash. probably won't play here for a while.

Fake price
I bought two hot deal tee times of 7 players through online booking. The price in website was $18 green fee plus $3.49 of convinient fee. But there is a different rate of $23 minimum payment in the pro shop. So the person in pro shop extra charged $5 per player. The person said it is the order of his boss. This is unfair and fake online price. I complained but the pro shop person said if I don't pay the extra charge he will refund through GOLF NOW. Ii is terrible experience for me.

Needs some care
Haven't played this course in a few years. The greens & fairways were maintained but the rest of the course needs TLC A number of par 5s and long Par 4s that can eat you up unless you are along ball hitter. With some maintenance and care this course could come back to be the hidden gem it was. It is still good to play if you are in the area!
