At this excellent par-4, the third fairway curves around a large pond, a threat to both drive and approach shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2022

The fifth is a long par-4 that plays downhill from a high tee, then on towards this sprawling green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2022

Seven, a long par-3, is easily one of the course’s hardest holes–partly because it is so well protected by greenside bunkers. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2022

Looking downhill over the long par-5 eighth, which may provide a birdie opportunity if you strike it well from tee to green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2022

One. 354-yard par four. The 13-index opens things up somewhat gently, yet the green is well-bunkered. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Three, par-4, 423. The hole plays downhill but to a tight landing zone guarded by the pond. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

The 492-yard, par-5 fifth is tempting for big hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Seven, par-3, 249. It’s easy to see why this is the toughest three-par on the golf course. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Eighth. This long 5-par (579) is open enough for swinging away from the tee. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Sixteen will require your best drive to this tight, dog-legging fairway. The second shot is no picnic, either. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Pretty Good Shape
I read a lot of reviews lately that the course was in awful shape. How untrue those reviews are. Greens were fast and true. The ball sat up nice in the fairway. Yes the bunkers do need work and the cart paths could also use some but overall the course is in pretty good shape. I wish the restaurant was open but it probably does not pay to open it on a slow Tuesday. I will be returning.
A Good Course in Decline
I was sad to return to Laurel View and find the course in such condition. The cart paths are rutted gullies, as if bombed. Bunkers have not been maintained, being no more than packed sand. Fairways and greens are OK.
Left for dead
Each of the last 5-6 years this course is declining . Greens are heavily diseased and the sand traps well aren’t sand! To bad there’s a lack care for this course it could be a really nice track.
Maintanance
Leaves covered most of the course. Lost 3 balls on the 1st 4 holes and 3 of my drives were on the fairway. I’ll go back in the spring and Summer but never again in the Fall.....
Laurel View
Great Challenge
If you play the Blue or Black tees and shoot a good score, you can play anywhere. Upkeep is that of a course struggling financially in these difficult golf times. Traps not racked, no pro shop to speak of, limited staff, etc.
A Great course to get a quality challenge(or beat up) and not break the bank. Original layout is wonderful. Long holes, tough dog legs with risk/reward, trouble everywhere off the fairway....This course will test you, but well worth the $$$$.....As soon as you finish you will want to play it again.
Can you say dog track?
Where’s the starter?? Bunkers have grass and weeds in them. Rock hard bunkers also. Cart paths need desperate repairs. Is there a refreshment cart , I think not. No water to drink on the course on a warm day. Empty ball washers. Tattered flags need replacement. Tee boxes were grizzly. DON’T BOTHER PLAYING THERE, EVEN IF GOLFNOW HAS CHEAP RATES. YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!
beaytifull day and great views
The fairways and greens were in great shape with great views. All the ball washers were broken and there was no drinking water available on the course. Its wert playing at a discount price just bring your own beverages.
JV
There are no drinking water for the entire course and over charges.
Has the ability to be a great course but...
Live in Hamden so this is a easy stop for me to get in a round. Was charged 45 once without a golf now reservation where you pay 35 so keep that in mind for a "discount". Course has gone downhill over the years due to rumors of a bad golf pro running the place so I hear, but in 2017 I find the course to be in good shape for the most part. Cart paths do need work, sand traps are not sand, but fairways are OK and for the most part the greens look great. I see signs for "mickeys grill" on some of the holes but never see a restaurant open and the pro shop has nothing in it for sale. Anyway, I still like coming here and will continue. Hope they turn it around over the next few years.
Satisfactory. Great potential
Appartantly low budget town maintenance. Mowers were noisy lacks reseeding. Divot filler lacked scoops. Challenging course. Could be great with more care. Greens and fairways were decent. Several traps in poor condition
Nice coarse, but not well maintained
This was once a premier coarse, but it has gone downhill. There are weeds growing in the traps, which seem to get raked once a month. The sand, if you can call it sand, needs rejuvenating or replacing. There are weeds in the apron around the greens, and there are a lot of damaged spots on the greens that are not being repaired. The cart paths are washed out and in great need of repair.
Bad last year, worse this year!
The course is in need of some TLC... The traps don't have any sand at all. They are filled with dirt and rocks. Played there last year and there weren't enough carts. Had to wait a half hour for carts to come in then. Had to wait about twenty minutes this time. And the cart paths are in rough shape too. The pro shop is almost non existent. Pretty much down to a counter and a cash register.
Staff
Forced me to play with another person when I requested not too and asked nicely. Staff got rude and forced me to go when there were many carts available and it ended up ruining the round.
Worst course I've ever played
I have no clue how this course has 3 stars. There must be some funny business going on. This is a 2 star course at best. It is in some real need of help. I would never play this course again unless the fees are like $20 w cart. The greens are horribly maintained and the fairways are even worse. It probably hasn't been treated for bugs in who knows how long and they are over running the course. The layout is confusing. It is woodsy which I like and at one hole a Deer was watching me tee-off which was really cool but aside from that I have nothing positive to say. The carts are the worst I've ever driven as well. I have no idea how they could call themselves a "country club" when they have 0 club amenities. I've public/municipal courses better maintained than this. They either need to get new management or just close down for business. I've seen the responses on here that they are allegedly "working on the course" but I saw very little grounds keeping staff. Please save your money if the fee is over $20
