Seven, a long par-3, is easily one of the course’s hardest holes–partly because it is so well protected by greenside bunkers. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2022

Good for the money
Pace of play was on the slower side, but the day made it worth while. Rather open. Only played nine.
Laurel View golf course
Course was in acceptable shape due to recent rain (and watering?) assisting fairway growth. Had played few weeks earlier and ground was bone dry and lacking grass in many fairways. The greens were in decent shape....appears they have been watered on more regular basis. The traps are atrocious with barely anything close to 'sand' in them, with rocks/pebbles to contend with. Appears course is lacking maintenance. No food or drinks service available. Hope something is done for next season as I doubt we'll be back. We'll keep checking postings for improvement and make decision.
Our apologies for the conditions of the traps and the lack of food/drink service. Please contact me directly for a makeup promo code at carlyteetimes@gmail.com
Good value
Played 18 for $24 with cart. Great value for that money. Greens were in good shape. Tee boxes were soft needed work. I will play again usually has best deals out there.
It's great to hear you enjoyed your round at Laurel View CC! See you back soon
Declining conditions
We have played this course many times in the past. This was the first time this year we played Laurel View this year. We have played many other Connecticut courses this year and their fairways were excellent due to the rain this year. Although the weather was very good, the course is in dire need of maintenance and daily care. There are many dead and dry spots in the fairways and the ground is extremely hard and in need or aeration. The bunkers are full of rocks and have virtually no sand. One shot into the bunker actually bounced about 12 feet high and back into play due to lack of sand. Also daily maintenance is lacking. When we did encounter ball wash station most did not have any water and none had any towels.
To be fair the green were in terrific shape, the staff was great and the bacon cheeseburgers on the outdoor grill were excellent. They could use a better selection of beer.
This course has great potential and can be quite challenging. I hope with some maintenance the fairways and bunkers can be restored. I will not play here again this year and I will visit the course in the future and view the conditions before I make reservations to play.
Stay out of "sand" traps!
It's was a hot humid day, so there was practically no one playing. With that said we played 18 (2 some) in 3:17 minutes. I've played here before and overall conditions are about the same. Fairways were good, greens were hit and miss, but a lot of it is from players not fixing their ball marks.
My biggest criticism is the "sand". Being a municipal course I think they use left over road sand in the bunkers. I only saw one trap that was groomed (of course I wasn't in that one). Hard packed with small pebbles.
I like the layout of the course.
Hard, Hard and More Hard
Staff was great as was speed of play. Fairways were hard and good tee shots ended up in rough or OB. Cart paths were hard and bumpy to point where clubs fell off. Greens were hard, did not hold or roll true; course needs LOTS OF WATER. Good challenging layout, but course needs to be maintained better.
Late Season Update
Greens and tee boxes in great shape fairways looking sparse with too many bare areas and thin grass. Cart paths are falling apart or missing entirely. Bunkers are a complete disaster all season. All pebbles & stones, no softness anywhere. Bring an old SW don't ruin good clubs. Entire place needs attention and investment. Nice layout and challenge, but neglected.
Glad you enjoyed the layout of the course but our apologies for some of the conditions of the course you experienced during your round. Please contact me directly for a make up promo code at carlyteetimes@gmail.com
very dry course

Going down hill
The condition of the course seems to have gone down hill. Played this course many times, but this is the worst I've ever seen it. Would I play the course again? Yes, but needs to be a very good price. Would I recommend the course? probably, but I would be clear about what they're getting themselves into.

hard as a rock
Greens in great shape rest of course bone dry and rock hard bunkers not groomed

Concrete fairways
The last time I played this course (1988), I recall it being in good shape with green fairways, etc. However, the fairways were as hard as the roads I drove on to get to the course! Ironically enough, the greens were in very nice shape. Both my friend and I decided to have some fun with the conditions; we hit some drives that were well over 300 yards and actually putted from 100 yards out that made the greens!!! It was fun but I won't go back anytime soon. If they put some money into the fairways, it is a very nice golf course. Too bad...
Glad you and your friend had some fun during your round. Our apologies for some of the conditions of the fairways so please contact me directly for a make up promo code at carlyteetimes@gmail.com
Wasted Potential
A nice New England layout, plenty of elevation changes and interesting shots, especially off the tees.
The course Maintainance was very poor...greens were slow and bumpy, tees were placed in areas of the boxes that had been destroyed by heavy play, lots of small rocks on greens and quarter sized rocks in bunkers.
If a little work is put in, this can be a good layout, but I won't be back. Very disappointing.
Glad you enjoyed the layout of the course during your round. We are working on some of the course conditions so please contact me directly for a make up promo code at carlyteetimes@gmail.com
Great layout
Nice to get started on time, no waiting. The course needs some TLC but I love this course. Tee boxes were good. The fairways were O.K. but need more water. Stay on the fairway, the side rough off the fairway, 50% was dry, hard, bare spots, just starting to burnout. Greens were in good shape but a little slow. Bunkers were terrible, lots of stones and minimal sand. Cart paths need work. Carts were nice and brand new. Overall, played at my pace, no obstructions.

Potential for Improvement
I found a decent deal on golfnow and looked forward to trying out a new course. Upon my arrival the starter was very friendly and had me off right away. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. The rough wasn't in great shape and the cart paths were a mess but I could handle that. People were shouting all over the front nine and I believe someone on the course even had an air horn at one point. Numerous holes we were dodging sprinklers and two greens we had to pick up because they were very soggy as three different sprinklers continued to drench them. Also, players couldn't even be bothered to throw away water cups around coolers as they littered several tee boxes. I will not be playing here anytime soon.
Our apologies for some of the conditions of the course during your round. unfortunately we can not control how other golfers conduct themselves during their round. Please contact me directly for a make up promo code at carlyteetimes@gmail.com
Great time.
The course was in good shape. The greens were true and fast. The bunkers could use some attention. It is like chipping off of dirt if you end up in a bunker.
Glad you had a great time during your round. Hope to see you back at Laurel View CC soon!
Laurel View
Great bang for your buck especially through golf now. Have played 18 a few times in the past couple weeks, no complaints other than the greens being a bit slow and the fact that the traps will literally ruin your club due to the excessive amount of rocks in them.
Glad you have enjoyed playing at Laurel View CC. Cant wait to see you back soon!
Slow Play
Nice course, but really slow, not a good place to go if you are a more experienced player-a lot of new guys playing here really slowed down the pace of play....
Glad you enjoyed the course but our apologies for the pace of play you experienced during your round. Please contact me directly for a make up promo code at carlyteetimes@gmail.com
Good course and challenging
The course was in good condition and challenging! The greens were in great shape! I look forward to my return visit to Hamden. My booking through Golf now was easy and painless. The pace was pretty good though we had a slow foursome in front of us.
Glad you enjoyed your round at Laurel View CC during your trip and hope to see you back on your next trip.
not women friendly
Wonderful course .Always liked playing there except for maintanance akways ongoing during women play times and when women are on a hole. Lawn mowing never halted while approaching greens or putting. Mowing continued while teeing off or right behind us on fairway. The cutters pulled up when men were on the holes. Too bad.. Head Pro Edward Grant a great guy. But Matt Manchetti's the real Boss. Too bad. The 2 rds back to back this week only reinforced what I had known for years and why we stopped playing there. Too bad its a gem..
Our sincerest apologies for the customer service you encountered during your round. Please contact me directly for a make-up promo code at carlyteetimes@gmail.com so you can come back and see that we welcome all golfers!
Challanging but fair
Course was in nice condition. Some blind shots, some sand and water that comes into play. Overall a fair course that will let you use most clubs in your bag
Glad to hear you enjoyed your round at Laurel View CC catberm. Hope to see you back soon!
