Indian Springs Golf Club in Middlefield has been owned and operated by the same family since it first opened in 1964. With a terrain of rolling, tree-covered hills, the course is as scenic as it is fun to play. The nine-hole layout is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels and there is an alternate set of tees to play an 18-hole round. Though many of the fairways are wide and forgiving, there are a few tricky blind shots that will test your accuracy. The par-5 second hole is one of the most memorable. It leads you uphill before plummeting downhill to a green protected by three sand traps. Indian Springs Golf Club's second par 5, the tree-lined fifth hole, is also notably tricky. The fairway edges along mature forests, leading to a sharp dogleg right downhill to the green, which is surrounded by trees.

Beautiful scenery, very hilly course.

The majority seem to walk this scenic and hilly course. Since I am not a mountain goat, I rented a cart. Very challenging layout especially if playing for the first time. At check-in, a staff member provided a hole-by-hole tutorial of where you don’t’ want to hit it with explanation and illustrations drawn on the scorecard course map, which was greatly appreciated once our round was underway. I played with my son, and we were paired up with another delightful father and son. It was a great time and great day!

Extremely well maintained golf course that has plenty of challenges. Scenic views, friendly staff and a nice restaurant for after golf festivities.

Nice Layout

Nice course and obviously well maintained by staff. Probably played by new or discourteous golfers as bunkers not raked and pitch marks not repaired on greens; not uncommon on public courses. I did play late in the day so we saw the effects of a full day of play.

A Solid Test of Nine-Hole Golf

Indian Springs presents a solid test of nine-hole golf, where you can get in a quick round, usually, and enjoy some definite challenges, particularly around the sloping, fast greens. Every hole has its problems to overcome on the way to making a par. My game is rusty lately (having played very little), so the course clearly brought out my weaknesses today, which were short game, short game, and short game. End up in the wrong places around these greens, and you will pay a price–usually in the form of a quick bogey (see my earlier reviews for course details).

Conditions:

Good overall. Excellent greens and tees, good fairways and roughs. Some of the fringes were iffy in places. Bunkers fine. The course does get a lot of play.
