Weekend golf !
There is nothing better than playing golf with ur friends on a Sunday afternoon. I look forward to this every Sunday, cause I get to see all three of my best friends, we try our best to get out on the course every Sunday at Quarry Ridge Golf Course, in Portland Connecticut. This course is great for every level of golfers. The pace of play here is usually four hours for 18 holes, but for some reason today was really I mean really slow. Our tee time was 2:00pm and we didn't finished until 7:23pm. Today was really bad. Other than that, everything was great. The tee box, fairways and green s were in great condition and the golf staff here are very friendly. I can't say enough how nice this course layout, the view here is so beautiful, everyone should play here before they close the course for the season. Thanks again for having us.
Autumn surprise
Quarry Ridge is a little known gem in CT.
What a surprise to find a well laid out course
Autumn views and professional and friendly staff, including the sandwich gazebo..
I will be back soon.
Enjoyed the round
Haven’t played here in over 8 years. Decided to give it another shot as I’m a much better golfer now the. I was the first time around. The greens are in great shape. Tee boxes and fairways could use some love. Very quirky design. You can’t walk 18 here. The following tee boxes are not always near the previous green. A lot of uneven lies, which make your second/third shot interesting. Overall, it’s a good course for the price. I’m over an hour away, so may not play again in 2020, but I’ll go back next season
Beautiful day
Beautiful Indian Summer day for golf. The course itself has seen better days, and was in “just okay” condition. That said, I still enjoyed the day overall.
Pace of play was horrendous. Waited on every single tee. It was about a 4 hour and 45 minute round. I guess it could be worse, but I hate waiting all the time.
Overall, they seem to be doing a good job with the COVID rules etc.
I think the $53 greens fee is a little steep for the conditions and pace of play, but I will give it another try next year.
Good course
Nice course, tough due to s]dry conditions and hilly terrain. Excellent greens.
Nice time
Course was great- was in great condition- always enjoy the challenging holes on the course-
Good afternoon of golf
Nice afternoon of golf. The greens were in good shape but people need to repair their ball marks. Some of the Tee boxes are in poor condition with little or no grass.
Staff is always friendly and pace of play was good 4.15 on a Sunday afternoon. No cart girl bot the outside bar was open
If you like elevation changes and seinic golf this is the place to play.
Good condition!
The course was playing very scoreable today, because the bounces weren’t so crazy that a slightly pulled shot would fall off a cliff or roll down a hill. I’m an 11 handicap and shot 82, so I was pleased. Keep it soft and the rough nice and grown before the elevation drop-offs!
Beautiful elevation changes
The course has beautiful elevation changes. Don’t expect to shoot low. I shot 48–38. Got some bad bounces on the front. Got some fortunate bounces on the back Hit the ball well from T to green The greens are huge. I was on in regulation nine times but three putted four times. The greens are nice. Very puttable. . Just moved from Florida and have not adjusted to the speed of the greens yet. A good course to take them out of town friend
Risk reward
Greens are mostly smooth and true. Some ball marks to navigate. Fun course with reachable PAR 4s and 5s depending on wind direction with punishable overly ambitious shots. Play it conservatively for a good score or go for it on 4s and 5s. Fun layout. Play it more than once.
Challenging
This course is a challenge. Most have narrow fairways. If you miss them - you’ll pay the price. Most likely a lost ball. It forces you to play well!!
Having fun with friends
Just another Saturday at Quarry Ridge Golf Course. We play here almost evt weekend. The course is in perfect condition and the staff is really friendly to me a d my friend's.plus the price is great. I would recommend this place to all the golfers out there. The food here is also great. You gotta eat something after your round is done!
fun time
got paired up w/3 others...fun group...course was challenging enough for our level...average...I have played there before so knew what to expect...definitely not a walking course...lots of hills and distance from hole to hole could be exhausting for some...for the money 29 golf now...worth the trip...will play again. Friendly staff...course kept nice, fairways good condition, greens readable and puttable.
