Greens
I play weekly,weather permitting.best greens I've played this year.
Convenient and good conditions
Nice short course. If you are a long hitter you may want to leave your club in the bag.
Rock Manor
I would play this course again.
3.5 Stars
Course was great for the money. They are redoing all the bunkers which will be great once finished. I wouldn't pay anymore than $50 to play here though.
Where is the value?
OK, overall I am a fan of this course. I have played several time over the years and still the same problem...PACE OF PLAY! This course gets a lot of play and our round was just about 5 hours on a Sunday afternoon (noon t-time). Bunkers are being redone and temporary green on #14, both don't bother me. My biggest issue is value. A good price for an afternoon round should be about $30...not the $50 I paid. Nice course, give it a shot, but there are better values out there. Will I be back? Probably. Its a fun course, just need a super GolfNow deal to get me back. By the way, range and chipping/putting green is nice. If you are looking for a place to practice, The Rock is a good choice.
Sand traps under construction
I've played here multiple times and always had a good experience. All of the sand traps are under construction with heavy equipment in place. I had to chip shot that was 25' from the hole but I had to go over a backhoe to get there. They are already charging summer rates and no warning at the time of booking the tee time.
Pro shop employee was great but the bar staff was very slow and not very friendly.
Overall, I will play here again but probably again not this year.
Fun Course
First time playing here. Enjoyed all 18 holes. Will definitely go back. The only downside was the use of a temporary green on the 14th hole.
Nice track to play
Bunkers in horrable condition. Could not be played from / no sand
SLLOOOOWWWW
I keep coming back to this course because I like the layout. Not too difficult overall and some holes challenge your thought process. I don't understand why I end up teeing off of the back 9 first more than the actual first hole. They are ALWAYS backed up. Not backed up as in so many people dying to play but backed up as in poor management. 5 hours every round is ridiculous. Too difficult to get any sort of rhythm going. I am not impatient as I grew up as a caddie, but having to wait every round is not fun.
Also, the pricing is just not worth it. This course is not conducive to the single golfer. The only way I seem to find a deal that MAY be worth it is if I have 2 or more players. I have no issue waiting to be paired with a group of 2 or 3 players. If they made as many foursomes as possible, ill bet golfers' waiting times would drastically improve.
Disappointed
For $48.00 for a round in December, I expect the course to be in better condition. We started on the back 9 and the fairway of 10 was in poor shape. I get that it is December but for a $50 round I expect a little more. The biggest issue stemmed from the course ranger. Our group was a little slow (delayed at the start because the other 2 in our pairing were late) and a simple "can you pick up the pace of play" would have sufficed. Instead the ranger told one of our group members that he "doesn't f*** around" and that we better [pick up the pace of play because there was 1.5 holes open in front of us. Plain and simple, you can't talk to people like that. If you want to be stern that's fine, but when you talk like that it is utter disrespect. I did not get this persons name, but another member of our group immediately called the clubhouse to lodge a complaint, at which time he was informed that no manager was available and that he would get called back. I cannot even begin to explain how infuriating that was to hear. Fast forward to the end of the round. Included in the price of the round was a $5 food credit. When I checked in I was told that my receipt would be good for that credit. When we went into the bar I ordered and mentioned the credit. I then showed the receipts that I had and as told "that rate doesn't get the $5 credit". I was in no mood to argue and just paid for it but the level of customer service was just poor. I'd probably only play here again if the price was right, but wouldn't go out of my way to come back.
Fairways and greens in very poor condition
Considering the price they are charging compared to other corses nearby the corse is not worth the money.
Absolutely awful
Where to begin, this is the worst course in terms of management I have ever seen. Tried to play a quick round today at 830 and asked what time the outing was going off, which was 1045. Course was otherwise empty, so I thought it should be no issue to get a round in. The front counter worker treated me like I was stupid when I asked to pay for my round, like it was my fault they couldn't accommodate, which they easily could of. Said he has a foursome making the turn so I couldn't tee off on the back 9. Sat in the parking lot for 20 minutes and no one came down 9 or was even on the teebox when I left. Truly pathetic. This course will never get my business again and I will not recommend anyone to play it.
The man at the front desk honestly deserves to be fired, just be polite to me when you say I can't play.
The Rock is fun
Always a pleasure to play an interesting course that seems to be well maintained everytime I've been there. Staff is friendly and the price is decent.
Feels Like Home
Great to play here. Good people, nice practice areas, and reasonable course challenge!
Nice course
A few rough spots that need attention but overall a great experience.
Chronically Slow
There comes a time when you have to give up on a golf course. For me that day was today. I should say give up on the management of a golf course. There is absolutely no reason that the management should tolerate the reputation that it has for slow, tedious play. While the course itself is fine, the management has undermined the golfing experience by tolerating five hour rounds. Jammed up tee times and no ranger. That is the epitome disregard ffor the golfing public. I had to bail out after 9 holes as I was over 2 1/2 hours for 9 holes and that is the third time this season that I had to do that.
If you enjoy growing old while waiting to hit, then Rock Manor is for you. There are plenty of other courses in the same price range where the management actually cares about the golfing experience. That's where I will be playing.
Holiday Golf
Course was in good shape except for a few greens were chewed up or diseased. Conditions were dry but you could tell the staff was doing their best to keep the fairways green. Others have reported Pace of Play is poor and it DEFINITELY is!! No ranger in sight! Be prepared for at least 5 hours! Would be a great place to play if they spaced out the tee times a little bit more than they do.
Overall, the course was nice, except...
It would be nice to have a notification at the time reservation or on their website regarding greens being aerated. Other than that, it was nice.
Aeration
Course is OK, but, Aeration.... They should go to let us know .
Course has some very good holes.
Greens had many many ball marks. Course was packed which slowed play. Fairways were somewhat brown.
I agree 1000%. Nice course but only worth $40 to $45 a round.
