Nice layout; some condition issues
This course has a nice layout but there are a few condition issues. Primary condition issue is that most sand traps have no sand in them and are basically hard pan. So you have to ditch the normal explosion style bunker shot and play it more like a chip off of hard surface.
Right course wrong time
Real nice course but not the course to play on a holiday. Had a 1:30 tee time and it was a half hour delayed. When we started we played 5 holes in just about 2 hours and called the pro shop to get a refund and left. They pro rated us for the 5 holes that we played and gave us the remaining value left in a rain check which was a joke. I enjoy this course and it is in really nice shape but having 3 or 4 groups waiting to tee off every hole ( holiday or not) is unacceptable. Pro rating us for the 5 holes also turned me off. Other experiences here have been all positive and recommendable.
Longest Round Eve
I've wanted to play here for quite some time as I attend school right up the street. I've read reviews before about it taking 5 hours to play a round but ours was closer to 6. We didn't tee off until 35 minutes after our scheduled time and there were constant jam-ups at the par 3's and some par 4's. It is a beautiful course but I certainly won't be playing it again unless it's during the week. I would avoid weekends at all costs.
Must play
Course was in great condition, excellent fairways and greens not too fast. Great value for the money. Nice variety of hole layout, not much water.
This course has great greens & for me a great challenge shoot a 88"
Can't wait to play again only draw back is they charge more cause I don't live in Delaware
Great weekday course
got a good deal for $38 on golf now. Course was in very good shape, pace of play was great. I point that out bc I've heard pace was an issue on weekends. The thing that stood out most was the guy in the clubhouse. We were running late and I called ahead. He couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. I ran into him in the parking lot after the round, apologized again and he remembered my name and said no problem. Nice change from the surly attitudes from a lot of employees at other clubs.
Thanks Donny! Glad you enjoyed your round I will pass this on to the staff.
Slow
This course is chronically slow and has been for years. There is no effort by the management to correct this. Rangers are non existant or not effective. Greens are hard and tournament speed (12+)resulting in numerous three putts adding time to every round. Pin placements are unreasonable for the speed of the greens. Tough to call this recreational golf.
Gusterra67, thank you for your feedback. We truly appreciate it. We do battle slow play here at Rock Manor. We will take this under consideration. Thanks!
Great day!
We were warned that the pace of play was going to be slow. 5 hours to play 18 holes is a little long. The course, however, was in great condition and we loved the layout. We will definitely be coming back in the near future.
Nice track, great value.
I got this deal on super Monday. Played for $21. Golf staff super friendly. Course in good shape. Fairways have a few ball marks but greens roll nice. Challenging course, hazards to carry on the front, not many on the back. Definitely playing again.
Great course for a splurge
I hadn't played this course since it had been redesigned, and the redesign was totally worth it. The course is in better condition than I have ever seen it, the layout is fun and challenging and the conditions are great. Some parts of the course are under repair but everything else is great. the greens are fast and true and the fairways provide a tight lie.
Slow
Could not believe how long we had to wait in between shots. No ranger or pace of play employee seen. the whole day. Course moved slow as molasses. Will not return, especially for the price
Pace of Play Again
took first tee time of the morning as a 2some to try and get a quick round in. they started us off on the 10th hole. we played the back 9 holes in 1 hour and 15 mins. when we made the turn and got to the first hole we were behind 4 4somes that they tried to fit in. the starter said it shouldnt be bad. we played the front 9 in 2 hours and 45 mins. I complained to the guy at the register about pace of play and taking the first tee time so we could play a fast round and he could have cared less about it. he was like Oh well.
i really love the course but its days like these that make me not want to come back.
Overbooked
Tried this course again even after the last 5 hour round I had there. Price was right on GN but sorry I went after a 5-1/2 hour round. Don't know what the problem is but they need to value golfers time. This seems to be a standard theme at this course. Hard to get any rhythm going waiting on every shot on every hole.
Great place
Great place would definitely go back. Pace of play can be an issue.
Thanks for the feedback, hope to see you back here soon!
Not bad for a last choice on the weekend!!!
I've played here six times now and its always slow, there's no ranger to enforce the pace of play, I also don't like teeing off on the 10th tee, they tell you they do this to speed up pace of play, I can only imagine what would it be if they didn't. Course itself is in good shape could use a better management.
bring a snickers bar more than one
Brutal, the rock just pumps people out with no consideration for pace of play, they starter was clueless more interested in chatting up a worker than monitoring starting. I live down the stree from the rock and i was reminded why I don't play it.
Too Slow!
Love the course, very challenging greens and pin placements but the pace of play is horrible. 5.5 hrs! That had a Marshall but i dont know what he did.
Pin Positions
Rock Manor is notorious for loooong rounds. Here is an idea, how about putting the pins in easier locations on the weekends so that the threesome that has a match going and is offering no gimmees actually 2 putts some holes as opposed to 3 and 4 putts. This starts off the 6:00 am tee time to a 4.5 hour round and it gets worse from there. Sometimes it's not just slow play of the golfers. The course needs to see this and understand they are part of the problem and are not providing a solution. Every pin was on a ridge, while there were clearly other areas they could have been placed. I pulled into the driveway and saw a threesome starting hole 11, by hole 18 we had caught up to them and we had a 6:10 tee time. The rest of the front was hit and wait. They were not bad golfers and were within their rights to hole out every putt and have a match if they so chose to do so. Easier pin positions would have cut an hour off their round. By the time we got done at 10:20, (a 4+ hour round for 3 golfers is ridiculous at 6 AM) there was already a 35 minute backup. I asked.
It's a decent course, well located with early tee times available, just fix the problem, because you can.
Walkers???
This would be an excellent course however the walkers like in most courses destroy the day!!! Their ignorance turns things into a 5hr round when most ruling bodies are trying to speed up game. I will not return till they make carts mandatory and can't recommend this course to anybody that wants a 4hr or less rd.
Mandatory walking would cure most evils, not mandatory carts. Walkers, especially those who carry, are usually better golfers who hit and go - they don't spend endless amounts of time in their bags like riders.

David thank you for your feedback, we realize our bunkers are not ideal condition right now and we are looking to making improvements.
