Volcano Golf
Wide open with only a few sand bunkers and hazards that allows you to swing freely when you're average golfer.
Wet but still fun!
The course was in great shape. It really is a great track in the rain forest and picturesque. Weather wasn't quite as cooperative as we'd hoped, but we had our rain gear and stuck it out. Carts with club awnings would be a nice improvement if possible. They did have a few of those but unfortunately we didn't get one. Maybe next time! We"ll be back!
Casual gorgeous course
We return to Volcano annually and play this course a couple of times. it is casual and well maintained. Very friendly staff - not so busy that you have to be paired in foursomes (if you like playing solo or in a pair). Many variety of birds on the course too but not so many that they impede play. Nene, ducks, pheasants, turkeys and more. Course is relatively flat w a few rolling hills. perfect if you like to walk the course. bring you rain jacket! it is often misty or lightly raining (this has never stopped us). Bring extra balls is you tend to hit out of bounds a lot. If you lose your ball in the taller grass you prby aren't going to find it (but you might find someone else's!)
Fast Play - friendly locals
It was my first time to play on this course, and I enjoyed the experience! The pace of play was fast, and the friendly locals made me feel right at home. The fairways and greens were well maintained, contributing to a fun day on the course.
I did notice a couple of greens that may have had what previously looked like bunkers, but they are now nicely covered in grass, which actually worked to my advantage! The high elevation added a coolness to the morning, allowing wearing a long-sleeved shirt and vest quite comfortable.
Heaven on earth
This is a fantastic course. It’s not a PGA course. Enjoy the course, layout, and challenges. Relatively easy course.
Tee boxes- 95% perfect. There may have been some uneven areas.
Fairways- like carpet. Everything is incredibly green.
Greens- great conditions but slow.
Staff- super friendly. There is no rush here.
Note- amenities are lacking but take note of nature. It’s 4,000 ft in elevation. When hitting irons (unto the green) club down. Your ball travels further.
We enjoyed playing here.
It was our first time and we were kinda anticipating to see some lava or volcano related stuff but it turned out nothing like that around the course. Having said that, it cannot be construed as a lack of amenities or whatsoever. We enjoyed our round very much.
Heaven on earth
Fantastic course. 4,000 ft in elevation. Ball travels further. Many times I had to club down with my approach shots. Not a difficult course.
Tee boxes- not all perfectly level but level enough
Fairways were all great. Felt like walking on carpet
Bunkers- lacking sand. Raked but more dirt than sand.
Greens- slow. Nothing tricky
It’s a must play course. One of my favorites. It’s no PGA course, but it is special.
Sweet course
A hidden jewel mostly played byocals and not crowded.. Good greens, nice fairways. Cooler at Volcano and rainier of course.
Not crowded
It feels like a local course rather than a destination or tourist course in Kona. But for enjoying golf I found it well worth the money. No club house, no restaurants, some bunkers overgrown. But the greens and fairways are good. The layout is kind of back and forth without a lot of interest but I found it a great place to work on my game in a relaxed atmosphere mid week.
Beautiful day
No rain
Busy day, but didn’t have to wait that long at each hole.
We love this course on Hawaii.
Don’t think twice…absolutely book!
Course is friendly for a golfers of any skill level. Fast greens.
We had an absolute blast and you can’t beat the cooler temperatures up at 4K! Incredible value for the experience.
Great course
Great course by Volcano National Park. Relaxed atmosphere and well kept greens
Well defined course.
Friendly staff. Fairly wide open fairways. Fast greens and in excellent shape. Cooler temps than in the city. Nice scenery.
