Worth the trek
Worth the 2 hour drive from Kona especially if you want to also go to the volcano, black sand beach, southern most point in the USA, etc. Staff was very friendly. Course conditions were better than I expected but don’t compare to the fancy resorts or country clubs. Currently rebuilding a few tee boxes which will enhance the layout. Wide fairways. Fun layout with drivable par fours. Bring a light rain jacket. 10 degrees cooler than Kona.
Great Course
We have played this course several times and have enjoyed every round. It has the best grass on the fairways and greens on this side of the Island. Great price for the money and sometimes you can actually see the smoke from the volcano.
Volcano course
Though the greens and fairways are not always ideal the views were always superb. Great value for $
Fun course for all levels of play. Not too much trouble, and greens are in good shape. Well maintained course overall and very walkable. We took a cart and completed the round in less than 3 hrs. Had a beer and Thai food from the food truck in the parking lot after the round. Awesome!
Wet but still fun!
The course was in great shape. It really is a great track in the rain forest and picturesque. Weather wasn't quite as cooperative as we'd hoped, but we had our rain gear and stuck it out. Carts with club awnings would be a nice improvement if possible. They did have a few of those but unfortunately we didn't get one. Maybe next time! We"ll be back!
Casual gorgeous course
We return to Volcano annually and play this course a couple of times. it is casual and well maintained. Very friendly staff - not so busy that you have to be paired in foursomes (if you like playing solo or in a pair). Many variety of birds on the course too but not so many that they impede play. Nene, ducks, pheasants, turkeys and more. Course is relatively flat w a few rolling hills. perfect if you like to walk the course. bring you rain jacket! it is often misty or lightly raining (this has never stopped us). Bring extra balls is you tend to hit out of bounds a lot. If you lose your ball in the taller grass you prby aren't going to find it (but you might find someone else's!)
