Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2022 #16)
Reviews
Great Value
The course is in great condition, although the tee boxes need some attention. For the price, you can't get a better day of golf!
Spongy greens
Greens were in great shape looks wise but very spongy. Interesting course. Not much difference between fairways and rough or the tee boxes. Bunkers overgrown and honestly would just better off be grass. Good course for muni play though.
Paid $20 on a Saturday afternoon
You get what you pay for. Greens were pretty good, fairways not great. I played this course 25 years ago and it was much nicer. But hey, I paid $20 for 18 and a cart.
Needs more work but getting there
Staff were a highlight. Superintendent was extremely nice and trusted us to play 90deg rule despite some water on the course.
Greens were in good shape and putted true, but you need to be mindful of pitch marks in your line. Fairways were in good condition, as were the tees.
Bunkers were unplayable, not maintained, overgrown.
Layout was interesting in places, otherwise kind of boring.
Prairies review
The first 9 holes are laid out well, the last nine follow the power lines and are pretty bare and flat. The greens were in decent shape but the fairways not so much. I was surprised with how wet the course was that it wasn’t Cart path only.
They also need a course monitor as the 4some in front of us was holding up everyone. For no reason.
Great Course
Affordable fees and only 10 minutes from St. Louis I have no complaints
Mk36
Course was pretty good. Finding the next hole was a little difficult at times. The tees were uneven in areas
Blind shots
Too many ponds not marked with red stakes. They gave up on maintaining sand bunkers. If you can't maintain them fill them in and regarded that area. Way too many blind shots off the tee to be enjoyable with no tips or notes on scorecard. If they invested some money it could be a decent public course...
