Reviews
Perfectly solid midwest course
A nice little challenge, sort of Links-ish style golf with blind water and some small hills/mounds that lead to some blind shots.
Greens are rollin’
Great greens, great layout, short par 4’s. Awesome place for a day out with the boys.
Cool layout, bad condition....even for February
Prairies is a cool course layout but honestly I'd never play there again unless someone told me they'd reformatted everything. and really worked on the grass. The pace of play was horrendous with several groups in front of us driving to every ball and not worrying one bit about others behind them. Even though it was February I expected the tee boxes to be in a little better condition but it was hard to find any grass on some of them. The greens were in decent shape but the fairways were pretty banged up. The layout is pretty fun and challenging but the pace of play kind of ruined the day. I am happy however, that I was able to secure a tee time last minute but it would have been a better value for $25 not $37. It was good to be hitting the sticks but they've got more work to do at the Prairies before I'll go back. Hopefully the course will grow in nicely. I wish them luck in working out the kinks.
Course looking better...even for winter play
The course has come a long way. I used to play it weekly before moving on to more challenging courses. Since they've gone to a new management team and gotten a new superintendent, the course seems to be making a turnaround. I look forward to seeing what it looks like in the regular season
Not bad for the off season
I was really surprised on how well the greens rolled for it to be Feb...not to mention the condition of the fairways..looking forward to the actual season and hoping the course stays on top of the golf course
Great value
This course isn't especially aesthetically pleasing but its one of my favorite places to play in the area. It has a great design that has a fun blend of both hard and gettable holes. The greens have improved a lot in recent years and could be quite nice eventually. They have a small grounds crew but they do good work. I'd say 18 holes are appropriately priced at $32 as of this review. My one complaint is their price for 9 holes was high. $25 the last time I was there. All in all I'd recommend. Just not too loudly because I like that its a bit of a hidden gem.
