Awesome fall golf
Great round of golf, course has some sneaky challenges, especially when playing the par 3's from the blue tees. A very challenging back 9 makes for a great finish to the round. Definitely the best value golf in the area. Not even close. The greens had been aerated recently (typical in the region this time of year) so the bounce on greens was a bit aggressive and the roll wasn't always true, but it didn't take away from the beauty of the course or how enjoyable the golf is.
Decent course...unfriendly staff
Paid for -8 holes and got stuck behind a slow group of 4 who would not allow me to pass even though it was only me playing. I had plans later so I went inside to ask the pro shop attendant if I could come back the next morning to play the back 9. He told me with certainty "sure, tell them Senior told you to come back." I thought all was good and there would be no issue. The next morning I got up early, got ready, and drove back to the course. I went inside to check in and let them know what the nice gentleman told me the night before. The guy behind the counter tells me "I'm the head pro and that's not gonna fly. You will owe another $30". ??? He didn't even offer a refund for the previous day because I had only played 9 holes. This guy was a total jerk. What would be the harm in letting one guy go out to play 9 holes?!? Big deal. I'll never go back to play there and next time will go play eagle ridge (which I drove through and looks spectacular.) save your time and avoid this place. On top of them being jerks, the course was a rat track.
2 Different Nines
A cheap alternative to the Eagle Ridge courses in Galena, the two Nines could not be more different. The front goes up and down and you can score on the straightforward holes. The back gets tighter and is much more challenging with two very tough par 4's. Overall, the course was in good shape and the greens rolled smooth, but the front 9 gets redundant before getting to the back.
Tourists, but treated like locals (well, that is)
Well-maintained, interesting course with two dramatically different nine hole layouts front to back. Laid back, friendly atmosphere. Golfers of all skill levels on the course.
This course is open and well maintained
I would recommend this course and would also play here again.
This course is unique and one of a kind
Very challenging back 9 as well as the front. Lots of uphill and downhill lies. Beautiful scenery along the way as well. This course is a must play!
