Terrible fairways
I am not one to normally review, but the fairways today on the course were the absolute worst I have ever played on. Your couldn’t even touch the ground with your iron shots or the club would just bounce. The guy I was playing with literally said it’s like shooting off your garage floor. Weirdest part was that the greens were in decent shape, but anything outside that looked like it doesn’t get any water or grass seed throughout the year.
For not being the cheapest nine holes I can find in the area it surely was the cheapest looking and feeling. My cart also wouldn’t go for a solid five seconds after hitting the gas, then makes a hard clunking noise and takes off finally.
Shameful cause it looked busy and at $30 for nine holes to manage I hoped for some better playing surface. They won’t take my money again.
Nice course for the price
Greens fees are very reasonable and the course is pretty forgiving.
Good course with open layout.
Greens are in good condition for a Muni course. No real penalties for wayward shots so a good place to make swing changes/club changes. Lots of balls to be found in the woods, but be wary of poison ivy.
Pace can be on the slow side but there are never any Marshalls hawking over you. It’s a snob free atmosphere. You can pony up and cross the street if that’s your bag...
Offers a chance to use every club in your bag.
Long 9 hole
Fortunate to get an afternoon tee time. Easy 40 min drive from downtown. straightforward 9 hole forest preserve course. Plays like a championship course with two looong par fives. No bunkers or water hazards. Greens true and fast. Friendly staff with no attitude. Carts now allowed so easy two hour round. Pretty good for 25 bucks.
