Pack a snack
Golfers never heard of ready golf. All think they can hit the ball 300 yards and so wait until the group ahead has cleared the green before they hit. Pace of play not acceptable. Took 2 hours and 45 minutes for 9 holes!
Everything is SSSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWW!
If you are in any bit of a rush, DO NOT play this course. Took me and my friend 2 hours and 15 minutes to play and we shot in the 40's. Not only was the pace slow but the gentleman at the pro shop who was really nice, took his sweet time. There were two gentleman in front of us paying and it took us nearly 15-20 minutes to get out of there. There was no ranger anywhere to be found. There were 2 groups of 4 walkers playing a few groups in front of us and no one did anything about it. Not only did I miss two birdie putts because I had to putt over a slight skid or small crater whatever you want to call it on the green. But the experience was quite awful. Thankfully it was a beautiful day and my first round out this year so I remained calm.
WARNING STAY AWAY FROM THIS COURSE
cook county forest preserve police share the parking lot and they issue frivoulous tickets to the golfers while they are on the course. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS . STAY AWAY typical crook county money grab.
Poor
Typical Crook County course, poor conditions even with the amount of rain that has fallen in the past month. Got stuck behind four foursomes that were playing every terrible shot they hit and the ranger never enforced them to pick up speed. Never playing here again.
Longest 9 Holes
Meadowlark is the course I actually play the most due to it's proximity to my home and the reasonable prices the friendly staff really help to brighten this course up as many times I play this course it never gets boring: This course offers two challenging dog leg par 5's along with two long Par 3's; this is not your typical 9 hole easy track it is 3500 yards yes 3500 yards you will have to use every shot in your back to tackle this track make sure you bring your A game.
Great 9 hole course
Everything was great, except for my 2nd time booking tee time at course through Golf now, my reservation did not show in system but staff honored email confirmation I showed
Nice Course
The course was excellent to play on. I was a bit concerned because of the number of league folks that where ahead of us. What should have took 2-2.5 hours took 4 hours to complete.
Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to hear you enjoyed the condition of the course. We are sorry to hear your round took longer than anticipated, our staff is always available to advise on the tee times that are likely to result in the quickest pace prior to booking your tee time. We look forward to having you play again soon!
Great beginners course
Great time at this course. Great people as well. !!
Great Value!
This is a great course for the average player. It is wide open and has long fairways. There are no sand traps and very little water hazards. The tee boxes, fairways and rough are in great shape but the greens are bumpy (more from uneven mowing than divots). I paid $19 with a gas cart on a Fri (twilight rate) which is really a fantastic deal.
It was my first time playing there. My friend and had great time.. Staff was very friendly. I would play there again and recommend to others..
Thank you for the feedback, we are extremely happy to hear you enjoyed your round with us and look forward to having you back again soon!
Mosquitolark
Bring bug spray, but a great course. Long open fairways
We are thrilled to hear your enjoyed your round at Meadowlark! We are not a big fan of the mosquito's either, but we are definitely glad to see warm weather in Chicago. We look forward to having you play with us again soon!
Nice course for the price
The course was in really nice shape. It was very straightforward. The only complaint is pace of play was extremely slow due to how busy the course was.
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the conditions of the course. Beautiful weather and good conditions lead to a higher volume of golfers and a slower pace than is typical for the course. We are actively working on a pace of play communication program to quicken the pace and improve the golfing experience. We look forward to seeing you playing again soon!
Average public course
The cost and two par 5's attracted me, but the conditions of the course were very low. Every green had holes too large to be ball marks. They looked as though somene took a garden trowel and dug holes all over every green. I had never seen anything like it. In the end the 9th green was more moss than grass.
Pace of play was slow due to the high age of most of the golfers. It seemed that there were a large number of retirees with low skill and nowhere else to be. The layout was good, although there is almost a complete lack of bunkers. There is water on a few holes, but those hazards aren't in play for most golfers. Other than some trees along the fairways, it's hard to find trouble.
For the money, there are certainly better 9 hole courses around - Downers Grove, Flagg Creek, even Western Acres. Try it once if you need to cross it off the list, but you'd be a fool to go twice.
Thank you for your review and we apologize about the turf conditions at the course. Unfortunately, geese have been known to dig holes in the ground in search of food, leading to the marks you saw on the course last week. The superintendent and entire agronomic team is on a quest to return the turf conditions back to our high standards; we are working hard every day to get them back in great shape. The day you visited was one of the first warm days of the spring and we had a very busy course that day. We actively encourage each guest to keep pace, but there are times when certain guests struggle to keep up. We look forward to seeing you again, as it will be our goal to make your experience a better one!
Long 9 hole course
Long but forgiving 9 hole course. Greens a little chewed up in some areas, but this early in the season they were actually in pretty good shape.
Pace of Play
If you like waiting to tee off, this is the place to be for a late afternoon/early evening round. In all seriousness however, this place is great but avoid this time as we found ourselves stuck behind very, very slow players today. We opted to skip Hole #1 after watching the 4-some ahead fail to complete it in under 25min-LITERALLY. We started on Hole #2 and eventually were able to complete 7 of the 9 holes today. It would have been nice to have at least ONE ranger out there to move groups along. Other than that, I hope to play this course again, just at different times when the "less experienced, less knowledgeable" golfers are NOT out there. Not a golf snob but show some consideration to your fellow golfers ahead and behind of your group.
Meadowlark
Nice course to get nine holes in on an afternoon/early evening. The course has some long par 4/5, but keep in mind that there are no sand traps. A great course for the beginner/intermediate player. A great location with access to the tollway and a few other courses. I recommend this 9 hole course to any golfer. A great experience!
Very Slow Play
I know it was one of the nicest days this spring but course play was very very slow. It started out well. The first 3 holes played at a perfect pace. About the the 4th hole we were waiting. By the 7th hole there were 3 groups in front of us. I know when tee time is after 12 pm to expect slow play but this we ridiculous. We only played 6 out of 9 holes and left because it wasn't worth hanging around for 2 hours to hit the ball another 15 more times. They really need a ranger to keep the pace moving. Maybe it's better in the morning.
Hi Zack,
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at our facility. We are sorry to hear that your first round of the season did not meet your expectations. As always, we try our hardest to provide the best experience possible to our guests but on occasion fall short. As can be expected on beautiful days, we experience a much higher volume of traffic than normal, and we do our best to monitor the flow to keep a good pace. In the event that you feel that the pace of play is too slow, or that there is something that we can do to improve your experience while you are here, please feel free to contact our golf shop at any time so that we can dispatch one of our staff members to your location so that we may solve the problem. Likewise, we also try to keep our check-in process as expedient as possible, and we will certainly be looking into the cause for delay during that time. In regards to the greens, we aerified our course on May 10th, but we will ensure that our agronomy team looks into the imperfections that can often be so costly when finishing a hole. If you have any additional concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time and ask to speak with our General Manager. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
