Fantastic layout but very fair and not penal.... will come back for sure !!!
Needed a ranger to speed things up
Nice course, challenging, good conditions. One slow group held up a few groups, and there is no ranger to help the situation.
Excellent Value $29??
Perfect October afternoon to get in a 3 hour round on this gem of an old schooler. Some traps were sketchy but with all the rains to be expected. Greens rolling wonderfully and any down hill putts were just frightening. Overall in great shape and a great value. See my 7/31 and 3/27 reviews. Course is starting to get torn up - nightmare for 1st timers due to really confusing routing. Several key areas don't have paved cart paths or easily identified access to green sites. Really strong finishing holes. Highly recommended.
Greens need attention!!!!!!!!ASAP
Course is in good shape. The greens are bumpy and do not roll very true, they are the worst i've played this yeat, some have dead spots or crusty areas. I've now played this course 4 times this season and each time the greens are getting worse!
Greens need help!!!!!
Fun course with some great holes. This was my 4th time playing it this season and i've noticed the greens are getting more and more beat up with pitch marks. Pace of play is always great here. I highly recommend !
Straightforward Layout
Most holes are straight and not to demanding. A comfortable course for the intermediate player. Well groomed, sandtraps properly maintained, which is worthy noting.
If you want to get some bunker practice, this is the course. Friendly staff and golfers. Interested in playing again. Dress code for collared shirts and appropriate golf shorts, slacks, skirts, kilts or knickers is in place.
Enjoy the course!
Slow and odd??
First time playing this course and it appears they’ve rerouted it making it difficult to figure where the next hole is in many cases. No starter on the tee made it a little confusing knowing who was up??? The course was in decent shape and for the money it’s worth playing again and hopefully the slow play was an isolated incident...
Course was pretty good. Pace of play just ridiculous.
Course recently converted from private country club to public. Changed the routing quite a bit. Course is in decent shape - fairways and greens are pretty good - have a lot of bare patches in rough area.
But the biggest problem was pace of play. They just let groups out without any time in between them and the layout doesn't help. No rangers, golfers taking their sweet time.
If they improve the pace of play - could be a decent place to play golf.
Just became public
This place was a private club for a long time just became public. Course is in really good shape, greens were nice. Course is really mature and tight on certain holes. I think they have changed some holes cause GPS we were using and the card seemed off on a few holes. They have A driving range, pitting and chipping green. Strongly suggest
Wonderful Mainly Intact Bendelow
See my review 3/27/19 for more info. Highly recommend Joliet GC. First ones off this morning and played in well under 3 hours. 4 of their members were disturbed we teed off in front of them 20 minutes earlier than our tee time and I believe we actually had the tee time before them. They never waited on our two-some. Yep eventually they were holding up a couple of other two-somes behind them and but they did play in 320 or so. That a bit off putting to start our day and speaks volumes why this place is now public. Lots of old school charm. Conditioning was excellent. First timers will have a difficult time navigating this place. Gave directions to lost newbies at least 3 times. Course is not set up well for golf carts in several areas but the routing is so jumbled it would be a difficult walk. Play this one as much as you can the next couple of years before it gets worn out - it's a gem right now but with the public on it and not giving care where to drive golf carts, not replacing divots, not repairing ball marks, not raking traps properly it will suffer. 4.5 stars $40-$50 value.
Nice Course To Play - Great Condition
We traveled here for a special day at this long time Country Club. Tees, Fairways and Greens were in great condition and the traps have good sand and were racked out well. Because it is public now, Kemper Sports had to change some hole routings for safety reasons. Some people have said that the lack of cart paths can be a little confusing when trying to find the next hole, but I think if you just follow the nice course map on the back of scorecard (and the well worn paths in the grass from other carts) you will not have a problem.
Overall a very nice place to play, and a very strategic course as well.
Open to the public
I was so excited to see this course open to the public and finally got to play it. We played on superintendants revenge week and the greens were perfect and crazy fast. Any downhill putt was likely to end up a 3 putt, but the tee boxes, bunkers and fairways were flawless. I did not like the routing between 9 and 10, very confusing and almost ended up in driving range. Add a few signs to direct 1st time players and leave the confusion to club choice. Price was great, especially for the quality of course.
