Chick Evans Golf Course

If you have not played at this course in the past two seasons, give it a try. They have upped their grounds game and tees are near perfect. Definitely worth the money they charge. Good course, and a great one to have in our area.

Played this course for years and it never quite makes it. Location wise Chick Evans is fantastic and would get heavy play if they did just a few things better. Perhaps move tee markers from day to day so tee boxes have time to heal? Also roll the boxes once in a while so we are not reeling off turtles’ backs. Divot repair boxes on the tees would also go a long way in helping to maintain them. Greens are slow as ever but at least they are looking healthy and smooth. Lastly green keepers should have pride in maintaining the course but seems they are more interested in trolling you with work carts during your swing. This course looks like it has potential every year but then fizzles out. I don’t know if it’s budget or poor management but this is a gem of a location with land to spare and no houses around. Oh what could be.

Good value for money, but the starter want doing his job, foursomes stacked up by third hole. Ranger non-present.

The course had a frost warning so we were delayed about 20min. That was understandable, but they sent everyone off the back right away each other and you had to wait about 15min for every shot. They easily could have put golfers on the front before and people made the turn.. Course is in great shape and staff is friendly but a 7 hour round on this short and easy or a course is unacceptable.

Liked the course for a good practice round. Just nothing special with the layout.

This used to be one of my favorite courses but my goodness things have gone down hill. This is the second time now that the staff is just blatantly rude. It started with the guy behind the desk who was clearly having a rough morning, but for some reason decided to go out of his way to tell me in a frustrated tone to book the round earlier next time even though I booked it the preceding Monday before a Saturday... Umm, why are telling me this? We have a tee time. Not to mention this was after we waited in line for nearly 15 minutes while this guy and the woman were on the phone- during which neither of you acknowledged our existence. I finally get checked in and get outside and the guy in the Vietnam hat gets frustrated with us because we’re already up on the tee box. I tell him sorry, we’re hustling, but we waited in line for almost 15 minutes to which he replies “I doubt that” to which I say, no sir, we really did just wait in line for nearly 15 minutes. Then he yells at me not to argue with him...? Okay... So that’s a really fun way to start your round. Get to the turn and order some brats and beers. Brats had clearly just been tossed on the grill and were cold and gross, and the beer wasn’t cold. How hard is it to toss a bunch of brats on the rollers in the morning and have cold beer on hand? Every other course has clearly figured out how to do these basic things. The course was also in terrible shape though it has been dry lately so I’ll cut them a little slack. All this said, if you’re deciding between Chick Evan’s, Meadows of Blue Island, or White Pines- go to either of the latter two courses. They are the same price or cheaper, both have friendly staff, and the courses are in much better shape. My advice, find a new starter because that guy is just plain rude.

Great course for the price. Definitely would go again.

The course was packed. Big wait at every hole. Course was super dry, one hole it was hard to find grass to hit from. We left only playing 9 holes because it wasn’t worth it.

Chick Evans was in very good condition today being that it is a forest preserve golf course. The fairways were lush and the greens were in good shape. For beginning golfers and for golfers that are interested in playing shorter courses I recommend chick Evans

Slowest round ever, just under 6 hours. Started out ok, after 2nd hole, came to a 3 group back up which continued through the rest of the round. I understand it's early in the year, and people are shaking the rust off, but to have that many groups stacked up, was unacceptable
