Chick Evans Golf Course

Booked a 6:10am tee time hoping to avoid the usual Saturday morning 5 hour round. Online booking offered 10 minute tee times which is nice. Got there a half hour early only to find that between sunrise and the first half dozen slots this place allows anyone who is on a first name basis with the starter or the pro-shop guy to just show up and they will be “fit in” between the 10 minute slots. I asked the starter why they were running 15 minutes late at 6:00 am in the morning and he gave a lie of an answer stating that the first few available tee times are spaced 5 minutes apart. I wonder if the Forest Preserve administration is aware of this situation and hopefully will put a stop to it. This being Chicagoland that’s highly unlikely. As for the course…, a few good holes, but mostly short par 4’s with no challenge including a couple goofy holes where 8 iron 7 iron is the only way to play it. Never Again…Avoid this place. Plenty of better options in the area.

They removed all of their ball washwrs, pace of play was horrible, tee boxes were totally torn up, and they still charged quite a bit of money.

The faculty that work at this course are incompetent at managing pace of play. They don’t send anyone out on the course to tell people to hurry up. If you find out you’re playing behind a group outing—get ready for a 7.5 hour round.

Tall thick rough and the greens have seen better days. By far some of the worst greens I’ve played on thus far

I love Chick Evans I golf there regularly great people and the course is usually in great shape

Lovely course with huge foliage. Few of the holes were pretty challenging. Very less sand bunkers. If one is walking it is pretty tiring as some of the tees were bit far. I would love to play again. I wish they had a policy of sharing the cart instead of charging per player.
