Coffin Golf Club

Well, the weather look good in the wife and I thought hey we haven’t golfed in a month since the cold weather started here in Michigan so we found Honeywell and Wabash open so we went down there to nice nine hole warm-up and then we found this coffin golf course another hour and a half further south right in the city of Indianapolis. And so we booked it on GolfNow for 45 bucks with discounts on what not on GolfNow for the two of us and the reviews were very mixed some abysmal some superlative but I tell you what we enjoyed this place. The weather was good. We were first ones out at 9:15 in the morning young man open the gate to get in right precisely at 9 o’clockand we thoroughly enjoyed it. The greens were fine actually pretty good and consistent. OK yeah the rest of the course kind of sucked but condition is wise, but the character was really super great when you thoroughly enjoyed the. Hills and elevation changes and the history of the chorus being owned by a family called coffin kind of a funny name. Anyway, there’s a tough challenge of a course. Yeah, you had to find a good piece of grass to put your ball on, but the greens were quite good tea boxes. They are trying to repair several of them and it was set up with basically two tease. The tips in the whites were one set and in the ladies bread and the greens were another set so we thought it was a lot of fun right along the river, fantastic fuse and if we were ever in Indianapolis again we would try it for sure. Specially a day before Christmas come on now who’s open that time of year yeah it was a 4 1/2 hour drive but oh well Kudos to the young man in the clubhouse and I would think man if this place had some average upkeep it would be quite a course even the way it was. I enjoyed it thoroughly, so yeah give it a try if you’re up standards are super high in conditioning. It would not be your course but if you like a lot of character and challenge, it’s right there especially for a 1931 build course. We were probably only a mile or so away from the raceway it’s a quite a strange city to get around in Indianapolis Road. System is quite odd. All right that’s enough rambling. Give it a.

This course is an interesting one. Amazing design and fun hole layouts. Nothing super straight forward. But, needs a lot of TLC. Found myself hitting from dirt more than grass, especially on tee boxes. Friendly staff and not a horrible deal at $40 a person in a Sunday. I’d give it a shot, but keep your standards a tad low.

If I could insert a picture it would be muddy tee boxes some with no grass just dirt, fairways either look like the rough or just short grass and weeds with some dry dirt mixed in, the greens are not as bad besides the dirt patches on most if not all of them, if you can’t drive don’t come here potholes every hole. Terrible NOT worth your money!!!!

Amazing fairways and amazing views of the river right next to the holes

City course in great condition. Hasn't rained for a month so I was keeping my expectations low, but the fairways and greens were green and nicely cut. Tee boxes were fair.

The course isn’t very good condition. One of two holes had some water off the side, not normally there. But it did not bother anything. Love the set up with the woods and the narrow fairways. Overall, my brothers and I had a very nice round.

Love the layout and the overall look. Needs some love, though.

The 9th green has been ruined by gophers. There were a ton of leaves on the course, which is annoying when your looking for your ball. The creek beds are dry, but there is standing water where there shouldn't be. Not sure I'll go back, especially at $47 a round.

Most of the greens were nice but several were in dyer need of maintenance. Loved the layout of the course with all the trees. Some narrow fairways kept you honest. I haven’t played the course in awhile, and others than the green repairs, everything was nice.

Definitely a city ran golf course. The best thing about the course is the layout. The T boxes are poor at best. Fairways are very rough. Greens are good but the hazards(sand traps) were terrible.

The course is not well taken care off. Rough was so tall, balls were difficult to find. Tee boxes had multiple types of grass. Sand traps didn't appear to have been manicured for weeks (weeds). The maintenance of this course is minimal at best.

The greens were good - soft and held iron shots well. The speed of the greens was ideal.

Golf carts are average condition with parking brakes difficult to set. Cart paths very rough. Parking lot full of weeds.

Overall, I am not sure how this golf course remains a viable business. I will not play it again nor recommend it.
