Review of St. Annes golf course.
We had an enjoyable day at St. Annes. The course is challenging . The greens are large and have many slopes to deal with. The greens on the back nine need to be reseeded and have several bare areas. The fairways needed to be mowed. We enjoyed our day at St. Annes.
Very challenging
This course, especially the back nine will challenge your game in most ever aspect, especially putting. Every green is challenging and more so depending on pin placement and speed of the greens.
Tee shots on the back nine require a good set up for the second shot to the green.
Love the layout and love the challenge of the greens. Definitely a must play especially at golf now price.
On the upswing
I've played this course 5 times now, starting in April of this year. The (much needed# improvements continue. All new carts, much better signage/yardage at each hole, the addition of fairway and green-side bunkers has all taken place in the last few months. The greens have always been, and continue to be, really nice. Also very challenging. With the exception of 1, 2, 6, 11 and 18, ALL greens are massively undulating. Simply being on the green doesn't guarantee a birdie or par. They are tough. The fairways and tee boxes are 'rough' at best. They need serious work. However, the massive amount of rain in June and July #I am sure# has played a huge part in the fairway conditions. Overall? This is a fun course. It isn't so hard that it makes it frustrating, but isn't so easy that it's just 'fluff'. I hope the improvements continue, it has the makes of an outstanding golf course!
Improving!
I play here frequently and it is nice to see the course return to its better days. Since the city of North Vernon took over this course we have seen better upkeep (throughout the entire course), new carts and merchandise in the clubhouse. The last time I played I noticed they had new sand for the bunkers but was not installed yet. I can't wait for it to be finished!

Thank you for your review! We are doing everything we can that time, weather & budget allow in order to get our establishment up to where it deserves to be. New sand, carts, soon to be parking lot & paths fixed, more merchandise in the pro shop, etc. Several of the tee beds were re-sodded & re-seeded last fall and have grown in nicely. We continue trying to improve every day. Please join us again and check it out!

Bunkers are now in place. I should know, since I found the fairway bunker on the 3rd hole, lol. The course is improving!
Needs work
Played here in the past, first time this year. Greens are in pretty good shape. Fairways are in "what fairway?" Shape. Bunkers all under repair, no sand. Was told the city just bought this course. Hope they can turn it around. Too many courses around here have gone away.

Thank you for your review. The city does now own the property and we have been working to make much needed improvements. There is new sand in the bunkers, the greens are in great shape and the rest of the course has been re-seeded and in some cases, re-sodded to fix many issues that we encountered the last few years. The pro shop has added some merchandise and we are trying to grow a junior program out here as well now. We welcome you to come check out the improvements again this summer. Thanks!
Fun place to play
I love playing this course. The greens are huge and challenging, I don't think there's a straight putt on the entire course. Other than that it's fairly short and easy to score on. This course used to be in better condition though. The fairways were a little patchy and the sand bunkers were playing as ground under repair (because they were full of weeds). If they can just get the bunkers fixed back up it would take my rating up to 5 stars, because you can't beat the price at this course.

Thank you for your review! We have corrected and added new sand in the bunkers throughout the course, re-sodded & re-seeded several areas, cleaned up a lot of "overgrown" areas and are just working diligently to continue making improvements to get our establishment on the level it should be. We welcome you to come and check us out soon to see the improvements that have been made! Thanks!
Decent Course
Overall good place to play golf. Only complaint is difficult to navigate with no course map on scorecard. A simple sign at each tee box with hole number and yardage would make it better as well. Grass was pretty tall and it was difficult to find your ball, but I could help that problem myself by hitting the fairway more often.

Thank you for your review. In response to your comments, we just wanted to take a moment and let you know that we now have cards with a diagram on them to easier navigate from hole to hole. Several improvements have been made since your post (and continue to be made!). New sand in bunkers, more merchandise in the pro shop, re-seeded & re-sodded areas throughout the entire course, and much more. We welcome you to visit us again in the near future!
Greens were in excellant shape, the rest...not so much!!
This course is in need of water on the tee beds and fairways!! The greens are in great shape, the tees and fairways are weeds and dirt!! Yard markers almost impossible to see, basicly just guess!! Will not return here!!

Thank you for your review. If you haven't been back since 2013, we encourage you to visit again. Several improvements have been made and we are proudly & diligently working to make more improvements to better appease our members & customers. New sand in bunkers, re-seeded fairways and roughs, and re-sodding of some tees are just a few of the much needed maintenance that has taken place just since the fall of 2015. City-owned and managed now, we are getting the course back in the shape it deserves to be. Thanks!
THIS COURSE NEEDS WORK !!!!!!!!!
I was saddened by the condition of this once fine course. Tees, fairways and rough were all either dead or 95% weeds. The greens were in decent condition. It is my understanding that the greens were modeled after Pinehurst #2 . At any rate, greens are very humpy ala Donald Ross! It was worth the $9 I paid to play there, but until they do some serious work, I would NOT pay more.

Thank you for your review. Just wanted to take a moment and let you know that we are now under new ownership & management now and have made vast improvements from your 2013 post. Most have happened just since the fall of 2015. New sand, more grass, better maintained. We welcome you to try us out again this summer!
Needs help
Short course, but could be fun if better maintained. Greens on back 9 would make it interesting course, but overall condition terrible. Tee boxes and fairways hideous.
The greens were in good shape
The fairways at this course were in bad shape. They were very rough and your ball would always find the hole where there was no grass. The greens were in good shape though.
Large Greens that are challenging.
This course offers the best of both worlds in that it offers an open links style on the from nine , while producing trees and doglegs on the back. The greens are large, but yet very challenging in that there is not a flat green on the course. Pin placement and green speed could make the hole easy or very challenging. If your approach shot misses at all, you could find yourself with a difficult up and down. Every green is somewhat elevated. Tee beds could use a little work, but would still give them a 7 out of 10. Once again would recommend this course to anyone wanting a challenge, especially on the putting surface.
Thank you for your review. We have been working hard to make much needed improvements now that it is a city owned course. The spring has plagued us with a rainy season, but things are certainly improving! We welcome you to come back and see what we've been able to accomplish even just since the fall of 2015!
